Here’s Your WHPO Sports Update….


the Cardinal beat the Phillies 4 – 3

the Cubs beat the Rangers in the rain 6 – 2.  Alfonso Soriano hit his first HR of the season.

and the White Sox lost to the Blue Jays 3 – 1

also it was announced yesterday that NY Yankees all-star Derrick Jeter will sit out until after the All-Star break after a small crack was found in his surgically repaired left ankle.


coaching changes in the NBA the day after the end of the regular season:

Doug Collins stepped down as head coach of the 76ers

The Pistons fired Lawrence Frank after 2 seasons

Byron Scott is out as head coach of the Cavaliers.

and say goodbye to the Hornets….New Orleans new mascot is now officially the “Pelicans”

2013 schedules were released Thursday.  The Bears will open their season with back-to-back home games versus the Bengals and the Vikings.  They have 2 Monday Night games – vs. the Packers and Dallas.
