Here’s Your WHPO Sports Update…....


Brooklyn beat the Bulls 95 – 92 last night to force a deciding Game 7 in that 1st round series.

Golden State beat Denver 92-88 to eliminate the Nuggets from the playoffs and advances to face San Antonio in the 2nd round of the Western Conference playoffs. 


The Cubs lost to the Padres 4 – 2

Cardinals got by the Brewers 6 - 5

White Sox beat the Rangers 3 - 1

Milford beat Hoopeston Area 6 – 3.  Kyle Bennett went 2 for 3 for the host Bearcats and Tanner Davenport struck out eight, in 5 2/3 innings. Andrew Samet had two hits and an RBI for the Cornjerkers.

Oakwood 10 – Schlarman 3

SJO beat Iroquois West 15 – 1


Hoopeston Area 12 -  Milford 2.  Allison Hamilton doubled, homered and drove in four runs for the Cornjerkers, who got two hits and two RBIs from Brittney Myers. Cornisha Allen had two hits for the Bearcats.

Salt Fork beat G-RF/C 12 – 11

Westville 8 – Bismarck Henning 7

Schlarman over Oakwood 13 - 3

Watseka beat St. Anne 10 – 1


University of Illinois-Springfield head men’s basketball coach Ben Wierzba will host a 1-day shooting clinic here in Hoopeston on June 1.  Basketball players in grades 6-12 can receive 2 sessions of direct shooting instruction from Coach Wierzba and his staff.  Sessions are 10am-Noon and 1-3pm on June 1 at Hoopeston Area H.S.  Fee is $35 and includes a t-shirt.  Registration forms can picked up at the high school and middle school offices.
