Illinois survived a sluggish start to beat a Penn State team 56 – 49 at the Assembly Hall to win their 5th straight. Brandon Paul led the Illini with 16 points.

The Miami Heat won their season-high ninth straight game Thursday night with an 86-67 win over the Chicago Bulls behind LeBron James’ 26 points.

Tiger Woods and Rory McIlory were both eliminated in the first round of play at the WGC-Accenture Match-Play Championship tournament in Arizona.

Bismarck-Henning will take on SJO in a rematch of last year’s Regional Championship game. Prior to that game is first round 3-point shootout action, with 4 players of each school in the Regional representing their team. The shoot-out starts at 6pm.

youth soccer news:
HAYS will hold a sign up for a spring soccer academy on Saturday, February 23rd from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at First Church of God, 1004 E. Orange St. in Hoopeston.
The academy is not a league but is a program designed to teach skills, team play, fundamentals and sportsmanship. There will be light scrimmaging. Newcomers to soccer are welcome!
The academy is $20 and includes a t-shirt. It will run every Saturday morning, various times in the morning by age group on April 6th through May 4th. It is for ages 4 through children in 8th grade, boys and girls. Surrounding communities welcome.
