Olympic Basketball…

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski will not return to coach USA Basketball after the Blue Devils’ season.  USA Basketball will likely name his successor this summer in preparation for the 2014 world championships in Madrid.  Under Krzyzewski, Team USA won Gold in consecutive Olympic finals, in Beijing in 2008 and London in 2012.

HS Basketball…

Several Sectional games postponed last night due to the weather including the Cissna Park – St. Anne Game at Schlarman.  They will play tonight at 7:30, with the Salt Fork – Arthur Lovington game bumped to Thursday at 7:30. 


Cristiano Ronaldo got the better of Lionel Messi on Tuesday, scoring twice to lead Real Madrid to a 3-1 win at Barcelona.  The Barcelona loss was their first home loss in any competition since last April.

Hoopeston Area Youth Baseball will hold sign ups for Pony League, Major, Minor, Instructional League and T-ball at the WHPO Business Expo at the civic center on Saturday March 9th from 10:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. and on Sunday, March 10th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Children must be age 5 by Aug. 1st to participate in T-ball.  Fees are $40 for T-ball and $60 for all other divisions.  Family discounts apply.  For more information, please contact HAYB President Quentin Morgan at 217-530-1923 or Secretary, Kathy Harding at 217-497-6686.  Last day for Pony League sign ups are March 18th and last day for youth baseball is April 1st.  Another sign up will be held March 16th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at city hall in Hoopeston.
