Here’s Your WHPO Sports Update…...


Monday Night Football –Tampa Bay won its first game of the season, holding on to beat Miami 22-19.


Charles Tillman was placed on Injured Reserve with a torn right bicep and will be out 6-8 weeks.

Also… quarterback Jay Cutler suffered a high left ankle sprain in Sunday’s loss to the Detroit Lions and will not face the Baltimore Ravens, coach Marc Trestman said Monday.


The Bulls beat Cleveland 96 – 81.  Carlos Boozer led the Bulls with 17 points.  Derrick Rose had 16 points before leaving in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury. 

The Pacers remain unbeaten as they handled the Grizzlies 95 – 79

College Basketball….

Kentucky and Michigan State held the top two spots in The Associated Press’ first regular-season poll, setting up the first No. 1-versus-No. 2 matchup in five years.
The teams will meet tonight in Chicago.  Defending champion Louisville remained third and was No. 1 on 12 ballots. Duke, which got the other three first-place votes, and Kansas stayed fourth and fifth.
