Russell Wilson threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns, and the Seattle Seahawks became the first team to clinch a spot in the NFC playoffs with a 34-7 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Monday night.

College Football….

Tim Beckman will return to Illinois for a third season as Head Coach – thanks in part to the Illini ending a 19-game Big Ten losing streak Nov. 23 at Purdue.

Athletic director Mike Thomas confirmed Beckman’s return to WCIA on Monday. Beckman is just 1-15 in Big Ten play and 6-18 overall at Illinois

College Basketball…

The Illini’s Rayvonte Rice was named Big Ten Player of the Week.  Rice, a junior guard from Champaign Centennial, averaged 21 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game as Illinois defeated UNLV (61-59) and Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne (57-55) last week.
