Here’s Your WHPO Summer Sports Minute….


Manu Ginobili had 24 points and 10 assists to spark the San Antonio Spurs to a 114-104 victory over the Miami Heat in Game 5 of the NBA Finals on Sunday night, pushing the Spurs one victory away from their fifth championship.


The Boston Bruins notched a 2-1 OT victory over the Blackhawks on Saturday night, tying the Stanley Cup Finals series at a game apiece.  Game 3 is tonight in Boston.


The White Sox lost to the Astros 5 – 4

Miami beat the Cardinals 7 – 2

Mets beat the Cubs 4 – 3


Italy beat Mexico 2 – 1 and Spin beat Uruguay 2 – 1 in World Cup qualifying matches yesterday.


Greg Biffle held off Kevin Harvick to win his second straight Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.


Justin Rose became the first Englishman in 43 years to win America’s national championship, the US Open.  Phil Mickelson finished 2nd.

• Hoopeston Area Head Soccer Coach John Klaber’s annual youth soccer camp will be June 17-19.  You can learn more about the camp and Coach Klaber’s program at:
• Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire will host a camp for ages 3-high school July 8-12.  This unique opportunity brings professional soccer players and coaches to Hoopeston for individualized instruction.  The camp fee includes a t-shirt, ball, and a free ticket for the player to a Chicago Fire game.  Look up Hoopeston Area Youth Soccer on Facebook or contact Kathy Harding or Kevin Jett for more information.
• Cornjerker football camp:  New Year, New Team, One Dream.
Hoopeston Cornjerker football camp for grades 3-12 will be held July 22-25 at the high school practice field behind the bus parking lot. Grades 3-6 will practice from
9-11 a.m. Grades 7-12 will hit the field from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15, payable to HAHS Football. Deadline is July 5. Extra t-shirts are $10. For more information, contact
