The Miami Heat are the 2013 NBA Champions as they beat the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 in Game 7 of the NBA Finals last night.  LeBron James had 37 points, 12 rebounds and was named the Finals MVP for the 2nd year in a row.  The Heat became the NBA’s first repeat champions since the Lakers in 2009-10, and the first team to beat the Spurs in the NBA Finals.


The Cardinals beat the Cubs again, this time 6 – 1 behind Lance Lynn’s pitching and Matt Holiday’s homer and 2 RBIs.

and the White Sox lost to the Twins 8 – 4


Abby Wambach is now the greatest female goal scorer in international soccer.  Wambach scored four times in the first half to break Mia Hamm’s record for international career goals in a 5-0 victory over South Korea on Thursday night.

• Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire will host a camp for ages 3-high school July 8-12 right here in Hoopeston.  This unique opportunity brings professional soccer players and coaches to Hoopeston for individualized instruction.  The camp fee includes a dri-fit t-shirt, ball, and a free ticket for the player to a Chicago Fire game. • Cornjerker football camp:  New Year, New Team, One Dream.
Hoopeston Cornjerker football camp for grades 3-12 will be held July 22-25 at the high school practice field behind the bus parking lot. Grades 3-6 will practice from
9-11 a.m. Grades 7-12 will hit the field from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15, payable to HAHS Football. Deadline is July 5. Extra t-shirts are $10. For more information, contact
