Here’s Your WHPO Summer Sports Minute…...
The Cubs lost to the Brewers 9 – 3….the same day they announced they were designating beleaguered relief pitcher Carlos Marmol for assignment, likely ending Marmol’s time with the Cubs, the only team he has played for since entering the league in 2006.
The White Sox got by the Mets 5 – 4 on an Alexi Ramirez single in the bottom of the 9th.
Cardinals beat up on the Astros 13 – 5.
UCLA won its first-ever national championship in baseball, beating Mississippi State 8 – 0 in the final game of the College World Series.
That’s your Summer Sports minute….I’m Kevin Jett
