Matt Kenseth beat Jimmie Johnson late to win Sunday’s rescheduled 400-mile NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Kentucky Speedway.


The Cubs held off the Mariners to win 7 – 6

The Cardinals lost to the A’s 7 – 5

The White Sox were blanked by the Indians 4 – 0


The Chicago Blackhawks traded Dave Bolland to the Toronto Maple Leafs for 3 draft picks, and traded forward Michael Frolik to the Winnipeg Jets for 2 more draft picks.


Brazil beat Spain 3 – 0 to win the Confederations Cup

• Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire will host a camp for ages 3-high school July 8-12 right here in Hoopeston.  This unique opportunity brings professional soccer players and coaches to Hoopeston for individualized instruction.  The camp fee includes a dri-fit t-shirt, ball, and a free ticket for the player to a Chicago Fire game. • Cornjerker football camp:  New Year, New Team, One Dream.
Hoopeston Cornjerker football camp for grades 3-12 will be held July 22-25 at the high school practice field behind the bus parking lot. Grades 3-6 will practice from
9-11 a.m. Grades 7-12 will hit the field from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15, payable to HAHS Football. Deadline is July 5. Extra t-shirts are $10. For more information, contact
