Here’s Your WHPO Summer Sports Minute…..
Mariano Rivera tossed a perfect 8th inning as the American League beat the National League in last night’s all star game 3 – 0. Rivera, who took home MVP honors, and nine other pitchers combined on a three-hitter for the AL, which snapped a three-game losing streak and regained home-field advantage in the World Series. White Sox starter Chris Sale picked up the win for the American League, striking out 2 across two perfect innings.

Hoopeston Cornjerker football camp for grades 3-12 will be held July 22-25. Grades 3-6 will practice from 9-11 a.m. Grades 7-12 will hit the field from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15, payable to HAHS Football. Registration Deadline was July 5, so contact Coach Michl Kearney, at 283-6661 to get your player signed up.
Hoopeston Hornet Youth Football, Cheer & Dance sign-ups have started. The next dates to register are July 20, 10-2 and July 21 Noon-2. Contact President Jeff Compton at 772-1398 for more information
Also….youth soccer sign-ups continue – visit danvillesoccer.org to register your player for the fall Danville Area Soccer Association season. July 20 is the cut-off to avoid a late fee.
