The All-Star break ends today….the Cubs are at Colorado, the Cardinals host the Padres, and the Braves visit the White Sox.


Golf…

Zach Johnson leads the British Open after day one with a 5-under 66.  Mark O’Meara is one shot back in 2nd place.  Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson each shot an opening round 69.

NFL….

Indianapolis Colts tight end Weslye Saunders has been suspended eight games without pay after violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.


Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle and former Illini Josh Brent retired from football at the age of 25 on Thursday, as he prepares to defend himself against a manslaughter charge in the drunken-driving crash last year that killed a teammate.
