Here’s Your WHPO Summer Sports Minute…..

Cardinals pounded out 16 hits as they beat the Phillies 11 – 4.  St. Louis will look to sweep the 3-game series with Philadelphia today.
Cubs beat the Diamondbacks 7 – 6 in 12 innings.
Tigers beat the White Sox for the 2nd night in a row, winning 6 – 2.
Austin Dillon won NASCAR’s return to dirt racing in the Truck Series races at Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
The last time one of NASCAR’s top touring series competed on dirt was Sept. 30, 1970, when Richard Petty won a Sprint Cup race at the North Carolina State Fairgrounds.
Landon Donovan scored two goals and set up another, and the United States beat Honduras 3-1 on Wednesday night to advance to the CONCACAF Gold Cup final.  The Americans will play the winner of the Panama-Mexico match on Sunday in Chicago. The U.S. has won a team-record 10 straight games.
Hoopeston Youth Football Signups contine Saturday July 27th 10-2 and Sunday July 28th 12-2, at the youth football field.
First year players will need to bring a copy of Birth Certificate, and all players will have to have a physical before they are allowed to practice.  1st practice is August 5th.
And that first Hornet practice will be a special one….as former Chicago Bear and Dallas Cowboy wide receiver Dennis McKinnon will make a special appearance and visit with Hoopeston Hornet players and coaches that night.  We will share more information with you about McKinnon’s visit as it becomes available.
