Former All-Star point guard Maurice Cheeks is getting his third shot as an NBA head coach.  Cheeks, an assistant in Oklahoma City for the past four seasons agreed to take over as coach of the Detroit Pistons on Monday.

and Lionel Hollins won’t have his contract renewed by the Memphis Grizzles, in the wake of a 56-win season and the franchise’s first trip to the Western Conference finals…the most successful season in franchise history


and according to ESPN sources the New England Patriots will sign Tim Tebow, as a quarterback.

• Hoopeston Area Head Soccer Coach John Klaber’s annual youth soccer camp will be June 17-19.  You can learn more about the camp and Coach Klaber’s program at:
• Major League Soccer’s Chicago Fire will host a camp for ages 3-high school July 8-12.  This unique opportunity brings professional soccer players and coaches to Hoopeston for individualized instruction.  The camp fee includes a t-shirt, ball, and a free ticket for the player to a Chicago Fire game.  Look up Hoopeston Area Youth Soccer on Facebook or contact Kathy Harding or Kevin Jett for more information.
• Cornjerker football camp:  New Year, New Team, One Dream.
Hoopeston Cornjerker football camp for grades 3-12 will be held July 22-25 at the high school practice field behind the bus parking lot. Grades 3-6 will practice from
9-11 a.m. Grades 7-12 will hit the field from 6-8 p.m. Cost is $15, payable to HAHS Football. Deadline is July 5. Extra t-shirts are $10. For more information, contact
