Mary Eileen Zemke, 79, of Hoopeston, IL., passed away Thursday, June 14, 2018 at 6:29 P.M. at her home. Mary was born August 31, 1938, in Rossville, IL., the daughter of Willard and Lavena (Holstine) Hughes. She married Fred Zemke on June 2, 1972.
She is survived by her husband, Fred; her daughter Rhonda (Hale) Greaves of Zionsville, IN.; her son Cole (Kristin) Zemke of Brownsburg, IN.; two sisters, Jeane Johnson of Peachtree City, GA., and Susan Queen of Ipswich, MA.; three brothers, Russell Hughes of Hoopeston, IL., Joseph Hughes of Watseka, IL., and David Hughes of Hoopeston, IL., four grandchildren, Brian, Tristan, Olin and Keane.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, William and Robert and her brother – in – law Will Johnson.
Mary worked at FMC Corp in Hoopeston. She was a member of the Jehovah Witness congregation in Danville, IL. Her special interests were baking, walking, reading, lawn mowing, and serving Jehovah. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, housekeeper and friend of many people.
Visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 20, 2018 and 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday, June 21, 2018 at the funeral home. The burial will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL.
