Leon Polson, 66, of Hoopeston

Leon Polson, 66, of Hoopeston, passed away 3:45 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at home.

Leon was born on July 13, 1952, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Earnest and Sarah Anna (Crabtree) Polson.  He married Patricia Hile on March 14, 1981, in Woodland.  She preceded him in death on August 29, 2010.  He later married Chris Kutch Johnson on October 8, 2016, at Manns Chapel.  She survives.

He is also survived by one step-son-Chad Johnson of St. Peters, Missouri; sister-in-law- Janice Polson of Hoopeston; three nieces- Karen (Darrin) Eighner of Rankin, Lois Cox of Stateline, Indiana and Linda Nosler of Hoopeston; and two nephews- Kevin (Monica) Polson of Cheyenne, Wyoming and David (Deb) Nosler of Hoopeston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Gene Polson and sister- Lucille Nosler.

Leon graduated from Hoopeston Area High School in 1970.  He later graduated from DACC, in 1972, and from EIU, in 1974.  Leon owned and operated Polson Insurance Agency, in Hoopeston, since 1980.  He was a member of the Hoopeston Jaycee’s and Star Lodge #709.  Leon enjoyed traveling, camping, spending time with his family and he was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  He also enjoyed his cats and he loved to always be working.

A Celebration of Leon’s Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 9, 2018, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  He will be laid to rest following the services in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home, with Masonic Services at 7:00 p.m.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hoopeston Jaycee’s or Star Lodge #709.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Leon’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
