Earl Millard Jones, 94, of Danville

Earl Millard Jones, 94, of Danville, passed away at 1:05 p.m. Sunday, October 7, 2018, at Gardenview Manor.

Mr. Jones was born on December 21, 1923, in Etoile, Kentucky, the son of Joseph Lewis and Lucy Thompson (Greer) Jones.  He married Doris Shappard on July 19, 1948, in Hopkinsville, Kentucky and later married Maxine Shanks.

He is survived by one daughter- Junie Crippin of Danville; four grandchildren- Jeremy Alan (Kathy) Crippin, Jennifer Malea (Shane) Dittmar, James Earl (Minda Pichon) and Jodie (Andy) Linne; and twelve great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two brothers and two sisters.

He graduated from Armstrong High School in 1941 and later attended the Coyne Electrical College.   Earl served in the United States Army Air Corp from 1942 to 1945.  He was a member of the Hope United Church of Christ and First Baptist Church.  Earl was also a member of UAW #579.  He enjoyed restoring antiques, wood working, driving around, going to garage sales and spending time with his family.

A Celebration of Earl Millard Jones’ Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, October 13, 2018, at the Hope United Church of Christ, with Pastor Frank Hoss officiating.  He will be laid to rest following the services in Embury Cemetery, with military rites conducted by the Potomac American Legion.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the UAW Local #579.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac to assist them in honoring Mr. Jones life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
