Glen Leo Forrest, 85, of Potomac

Glen Leo Forrest, 85, of Potomac, passed away at 6:17 a.m. Friday, October 19, 2018, at OSF Heart of Mary Medical Center, in Urbana.

Mr. Forrest was born on November 14, 1932, in Rankin, Illinois, the son of Lester and Hazel (Norville) Forrest.  He graduated from Potomac High School and then served four years in the United States Air Force, during the Korean War, as an airplane mechanic.  He was stationed in Ohio, Georgia and North Africa. 

He married Rheta Allison on June 23, 1957, at Wallace Chapel, in Potomac.  They were married for 61 years.  She survives.

Glen retired from Chanute Air Force Base, after 33 years as a federal employee.  He also farmed on the family farm in Potomac for 55 years.

He is survived by one son- Wayne Forrest of Georgetown; two daughters- Sharita (James Simpson) Forrest of Potomac and Holly (Robert) Berry of Caledonia, Wisconsin; one grandson- Joshua Forrest; one great-grandson- Leland Forrest; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog-Tippy.

Glen was preceded in death by his parents, brother- Ralph Forrest and three sisters- Yvonne Rush, Marjorie Judy and Juanita Thompson.

A Celebration of Glen Leo Forrest’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac.  He will be laid to rest following the services in Potomac Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Potomac American Legion or the American Heart Association.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Glen’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com
