Mary Lou Lockhart, 92, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Wellington

Mary Lou Lockhart, 92, of Lexington, KY, formerly of Wellington, IL, passed away at 1:18 P.M. Saturday May 18, 2019 at her home in Lexington, KY.  She was born May 11, 1927, in Prairie Green, IL, the daughter of Harold and Mabel (Huffman) Fielding.  She married Gail Lockhart on December 26, 1947.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Brakeville of Lexington, KY; one son, Bruce (Nita) Lockhart of Wellington, IL; one daughter-in-law, Linda Lockhart of Venice, FL; one sister-in-law, Jean Lockhart of Wellington, IL; four grandchildren, Mark (Misty) Lockhart of St. Joseph, IL, Brent (Margie) Lockhart of Danville, IL, Doug Stein of Lexington, IL and Rachel Brakeville of Lexington, KY; 5 great-grandchildren, Taylyn, Ryker, and Cruz Lockhart and Collin and Landyn Thomey; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Stephen Lockhart; one son-in-law, Greg Brakeville; one sister, Clara Harris; and three brothers-in-law, Merle Lockhart, Robert Lockhart, and Bill Harris.

Mary worked alongside her husband Gail, as a farm wife, taking meals to the field and doing many other tasks.  She served as a Sunday school teacher and VBS Director at Prairie Green Church of Christ and later attended the Milford Christian Church.  She was a member of the Illinois Angus Women’s Auxiliary and the WOW Club of Wellington.  Mary enjoyed cooking and baking and was an Illinois and Kentucky fan.  One of her greatest joys was following her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren through their many school and sporting events.

A visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday May 23, 2019 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday May 24, 2019 at the funeral home, with Pastor Brent Zastrow and Pastor Paul Rebert officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Memorials may be made to the Prairie States Christian Camp or the donor’s choice.
