Gael Edward Neathery, 92, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:28 P.M. Monday October 19, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.  He was born January 11, 1928, in Albany, KY, the son of Edward and Pernie (Thomas) Neathery.  He married Donna Lyons on September 18, 1955 at the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston.  She preceded him in death on January 10, 2004. 

He is survived by two daughters, Jane Jenner of Vista, CA and Susan (William) Kachele of San Marcos, CA; one son, Gael E. “Eddie” (Jaime) Neathery II of Hoopeston, IL; brother, Lynn (Linda) Neathery of AZ; sister-in-law, Ruth Neathery of Hoopeston, IL; 8 grandchildren, Kyle Alt, Alisa Dutro, Elliott & Dakota Jenner, Kainon Kachele, and Alston, Reilly, and Traes Neathery; 6 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his wife, Gael was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Melia Alt; one sister and brother-in-law, Pat (George) Meyers; and one brother, Jack Neathery. 

Gael was a lifelong farmer, farming for 60 years.  He served in the United States Army from 1950 – 1952.  He was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston.  Gael’s greatest enjoyment was the farm especially caring for his yard and farmstead. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Monday October 26, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  We kindly ask that face coverings be worn, and social distancing is maintained by those who attend.  A private funeral and burial will be held with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
