Jerry C. Tesreau, 81, of Hoopeston, formerly of Fredericktown, Missouri

 

Jerry C. Tesreau, 81, of Hoopeston, formerly of Fredericktown, Missouri, passed away AT 1:35 a.m. Thursday, December 8, 2022, at his home surrounded by his family.

Jerry was born on December 23, 1940, in Fredericktown, Missouri, the son of Clark E. and Violet A. (Wagner) Tesreau.  He married Shirley McClure on August 27, 1961, in Sikeston, Missouri.  She survives.

He is also survived by two daughters- Melissa (Jeff) Stebbins of Hoopeston and Michelle (Randy) Wade of Antioch, Illinois; one son- Sam Tesreau of Rochelle, Illinois; six grandchildren- Emily (Dustin) Leslie, Joshua (Taylor) Stebbins, Cameron Wade, Hannah (Aaron) Mayes, Isaac Tesreau and Luke Tesreau; four great-grandchildren- Clara Leslie, Beckett Leslie, Eloise Stebbins and Kirah Leslie; two brothers- Rick (Louann) Tesreau of Fredericktown, Missouri and Mike (Myra) Montgomery of Seneca, South Carolina; one sister- Mary Tripp of Belleville, Illinois; special sister-in-law- Glenda Tesreau of Fredericktown, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers- Vic and Roy Tesreau, and sister- Gloria Montgomery.

Jerry graduated from Fredericktown High School, in 1958.  He later graduated from barber school, in St. Louis.  Jerry served in the Missouri National Guard from 1960 to 1968.  He worked for 33 years as a warehouseman for Nestle Distribution Center, in Dekalb, Illinois, until he retired in 2002.  Jerry was also a retired Baptist pastor, where he would serve as an intern pastor at several churches.  He attended First Baptist Church in Hoopeston.  Jerry in his younger years enjoyed playing wiffle ball and he coached little league.  He enjoyed gardening and going to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s sporting events.  Jerry was also an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

A Celebration of Jerry’s Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Adam Taubert officiating.  Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, at the church.  Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, to assist them in honoring Jerry’s life.  Condolences may be made to the family on Jerry’s everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
