Rosalind Almira Quartier, 93, of Danville

Rosalind Almira Quartier, 93, of Danville, IL, passed away at 10:42 A.M. Tuesday July 25, 2023, at her home. She was born May 7, 1930, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Alvin and Eva (Lowe) Peelman. She married Robert Eugene “Bob” Quartier on April 5, 1953, at the First Church of Christ in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Patricia “Patty” (Art) Froehling of Loda, IL; one son, Robert Timothy “Tim” Quartier of Alvin, IL; two sisters, Dianne Sollars of Georgetown, IL and Melvina Edwards of IA; two brothers, Alvin Peelman of Georgetown, IL and Danny (Julie) Peelman of Westville, IL; four grandchildren, Darci Quartier, Trevor (Rachael Coyle) Froehling, Wyatt Froehling, and Savannah Froehling; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She is also survived by many special friends whom she loved to sit with on the porch and laugh and talk.

In addition to her husband, Robert “Bob” Quartier, she was preceded in death by two sisters; five brothers; three infant brothers; and one grandson, A.J. Froehling.

Early on in marriage, Rosalind worked at Producers Dairy, Bohn Aluminum, and Holmes Brothers Foundry. She co-managed Tall Timber Dairy Farm with her husband in the early 50s, which was owned by Dr. Everett Laury of Danville.  She was also co-owner and operator of Idol-Ayr Dairy Farm in Danville, IL, from 1948-2008, then raised dairy heifers, had some pet cows, and operated the farm with help from family, in recent years. Rose was a member of the Bismarck First Church of Christ where she served as a Sunday school teacher. She was also a member of the Registered Ayrshire Breeders Association, the Illinois Purebred Dairy Cattle Association, and the National Ayrshire Breeders Association. Rose was a member of Rural Youth as a young woman, and that is where she met her husband, Bob. Also, for many years, she helped operate a gravel pit at their farm, and worked in the scalehouse.

Her home, family, and farm were everything to her and she vowed to never leave her farm. She saved the farm when her husband was drafted, by milking 40 cows in the morning and evening by herself, and working at a factory all day. She loved all animals, and she spent every day of her life caring for animals and working by her husband’s side. She was good at sewing, cooking; especially dumplings and apple crème pie, fixing machinery like the lawn mower or silo unloader, and taking excellent care of her family. She said her grandkids were the greatest gift and treasure in her life. Her nickname was “Rosie Posie”. She never had a complaint and loved everybody!

A visitation will be held 12:00 P.M. – 1:30 P.M. Monday July 31, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.
