Harry F. Bogen, 76

Harry F. Bogen, 76, passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.  He was born on March 26, 1947, the son of William and Audrey (Leadbetter) Bogen., in New Haven, CT.

 

Harry leaves behind three children, Meghan (Raymond) Flegal, Patrick (Sarah) Bogen, and Matthew (Amy) Bogen; six grandchildren, Emma Bogen, Caroline Bogen, Izzy Bogen, Jacob Bogen, Lucas Bogen, Zach Bogen; as well as many extended family members in Connecticut.

 

Harry is preceded in death by his parents, wife-Margaret (Sweeney) Bogen, and sister- Debbie Bogen.

 

Harry graduated from Milford High School in Connecticut and attended Charter Oak College.  In his younger years he was a volunteer firefighter for the West Haven, CT Fire Department.  He began his career working for Creative Products, in 1979.  In 1988, he moved to Illinois to continue his career with the company in various management positions and helping to develop new products, until the plant closed in 2012.  After his early retirement, he continued to do consulting for ConAgra Foods.  Harry was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church and Vermilion County Master Gardeners, where he helped in maintaining the herb garden at Kennekuk Park.  Harry enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He loved to be outdoors in the yard and work in the garden.  Harry always enjoyed delegating tasks and he never knew a stranger.  He was an avid Schlarman Hilltopper fan and could be seen at almost every sporting event.   

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut St., Danville, IL 61832, with Father John Cyr officiating.  Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery following the mass.  Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, at the church.  According to his wishes cremation rites have been arranged.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home, 400 N. Vermilion St., Potomac, IL 61865, to assist them in honoring Harry’s life.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in Harry’s name to the Schlarman Academy Development office.  Condolences may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
