Glenda Kay Layden, 80, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:22 A.M. Thursday November 23, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born May 24, 1943, in Indianapolis, IN, the daughter of Don and Lois (Berry) Elliott. They preceded her in death. She married Richard “Dick” Vines, and he preceded her in death. She later married Robert T. “Bob” Layden Jr., on December 28, 1967, at the Hoopeston Christian Church and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2016.

She is survived by one son, Glenn Vines of Norwalk, CA; one sister, Vanette Sumner of Arcadia, CA; one brother, Phillip (Alice) Elliott of McAllen, TX; one granddaughter, Carly Vines; one great-grandson, Ashton York; and many nieces and nephews.

Glenda sold Avon for several years and later became a homemaker, caring for her family. She was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ where she was very active helping with luncheons and serving on the Fellowship Committee. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, and watching Purdue basketball. Glenda especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Thursday December 7, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Thursday December 7, 2023, at the funeral home with Rev. Dustin Wells officiating. A private burial will be held.
