Norma Jean Hollen, 86, of Hoopeston, IL, and formerly of Champaign

Norma Jean Hollen, 86, of Hoopeston, IL, and formerly of Champaign, IL, passed away at 5:10 P.M. Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston, IL. She was born February 12, 1938, in Potomac, IL, the daughter of Harold and Grace (Sollars) Abbott. She married Gary Leroy Hollen on April 28, 1957, in East Lynn, IL. He preceded her in death on May 24, 2020.

She is survived by two sons, Mark (Deb) Hollen of Waynesboro, PA and John (Mary) Hollen of Lakewood, IL; two sisters, Virginia “Ginger” (Bill) Judd of Medford, OR and Janice (Ronald) Dowell of Champaign, IL; one brother, Dennis “Denny” (Jackie) Abbott of Champaign, IL; five grandchildren, Danielle (Jeffrey) Kardisco, Gillian (Garrett) Austin, Michael (Natasha) Hollen, James (Anna) Hollen, and Thomas Hollen; three great-grandchildren, Ivyn and Judah Kardisco and Nikolas Hollen; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and one brother, Charles “Chuck” Abbott.

Norma Jean worked at the University of Illinois as an Administrative Assistant until her retirement. She was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ in Champaign. In her younger years, she enjoyed singing with her trio and later enjoyed doing cross stitch. Norma Jean’s greatest love was her family as she was a devoted wife and especially loved her grandchildren.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and burial will be held at a later date.
