Charles Dean Misner, 84, of Hoopeston

 

Charles Dean Misner, 84, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 2:45 P.M. Thursday March 21, 2024, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston. He was born July 2, 1939, in Henning, IL, the son of Leonard and Aural (Turner) Misner. He married Ruth Webber on January 28, 1961, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hoopeston. She survives in Hoopeston.

He is also survived by one son, Phillip Misner; two daughters, Jeanne Misner of Watseka, IL, and Lori (Jonathan) Walters of Bourbonnais, IL; four beautiful grandchildren; two very special great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Rosie (Puzz) Reed and June (Andrew) Nebesnyk.

Dean was a torpedo man in the United States Navy from 1957- 1959. Following the Navy, he attended Coyne Technical School in Chicago. He worked briefly at Hurletron Inc. in Danville, and then went to work for Illinois Bell which later became AT&T Phone Company until his retirement in 2005. Dean also enjoyed farming with his father and later continued farming the family farm, developing a love for John Deere tractors. After his retirement, he continued with a sales career.  Dean was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston and the Lions Club.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a visitation will be held 10:00 A.M.- 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 13, 2024, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 502 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 13, 2024, at the church, with Shawon Wise officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Memorial donations may be made in memory of Dean to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ, 502 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL 60942.
