The NCAA Men’s Basketball season came to a close last night and North Carolina won its 6th National Championship all time with a 71-65 victory over Gonzaga. The Zags led by 2 with 1:40 left in the game when Justin Jackson delivered the go-ahead 3 point play to set off an 8-0 run to end the game for the Tar Heels. It was the third national championship for UNC coach Roy Williams, putting him one ahead of his mentor Dean Smith and he now trails only John Wooden, Mike Krzyzewski, and Adolph Rupp.

In Major League baseball action yesterday, the rain put a damper on the White Sox home opener  against the Tigers as it was postponed after a 2 hour rain delay. They will attempt to get that game in this afternoon when Jose Quintana takes the bump against Justin Verlander for the Tigers. The Cubs and Cardinals also had the day off yesterday but will return to action tonight at 7:15 in St Louis. Jake Arrieta will take the mound for the Cubs against long time Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright.

The NBA schedule for tonight features the Bulls traveling to Madison Square Garden to take on the Knicks in a 7 o’clock tip off. The surging Bulls are on a 4 game winning streak that has moved them into 7th place in the east and just two games behind the 5th place Milwaukee Bucks. Tonight’s game is also the first of its five remaining games against non-playoff teams.

Lastly, the NHL schedule tonight features the Blackhawks traveling to Denver to take on the Avalanche in an 8 o’clock puck drop and the Blues hosting the Jets for a 7 pm puck drop at the Scottrade Center in St Louis.
