Hoopeston Police Department Report August 28, 2017

Aggravated Domestic Battery and Aggravated Battery         H17-3279   V17-8436
Date & Time: August 28, 2017      8:10am
Location: 800 blk E Seminary
Complainants: 36 year old Hoopeston female and a 32 year old Hoopeston man
Arrested: Corey L Walker (31) of Hoopeston
Details: Officers responded to above location for a call reference subject inside
fighting and threatening residents with a gun.  Upon arrival Walker
had already left the premises.  After locating Walker nearby
hiding in bushes, he was taken into custody and charged with above.
He was transported to PSB to await arraignment.
 
 
Violation of Stalking No Contact Order H17-3293 V17-8453
Date & Time: August, 28, 2017 5:20 pm
Location: 800 blk E. Honeywell
Complainant: 25 year old Hoopeston male
Arrested: Colton J. Simon (22) of Hoopeston
Details: Officers responded to the above located reference a possible Violation
of a Stalking No Contact Order. Officer arrived on scene and found Simon
to be in violation of a Stalking No Contact Order. He was placed in custody
and transported to HPD where he was later transported to the PSB to 
await arraignment.

WHAT: Traffic Crash with Injuries
WHERE: Route 1 at the intersection of Vermilion County 2500 North
WHEN: August 26, 2017 at 2:24pm
VEHICLES: Unit 1: 2010 Mercury Mariner
Unit 2: 2007 Jeep Wrangler
Unit 3: 2007 Chevrolet Silverado
DRIVERS: Unit 1: Penny S. Boren 70 Years Old, Danville, IL
Unit 2: Jacob R. Nelson 38 Years Old, Danville, IL
Unit 3: Justin Charles Jeffries 27 Years Old, Hoopeston, IL
PASSENGERS: Unit 1: no passengers
Unit 2: Child age 13
Unit 3: Brook E. Cremonesi 24 Years Old, Rankin, IL
Seann Thomas Cremonesi 28 Years Old, Rankin, IL
PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, unit 1 was traveling
northbound on Route 1. Unit 1 struck unit 2 in the rear, while unit 2 was slowed or stopped waiting to
turn left onto Vermilion County Road 2500 North. The collision with units 1 and 2, pushed unit 2 into
the southbound lane of Route 1 where unit 2 struck unit 3.
TRANSPORTS: Driver of unit 1 was transported by Ambulance to a local Danville hospital and
then was transported by Air Life to an area hospital. The driver of unit 2 and passenger were transported 
by ambulance to a local Hoopeston Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver and 2
passengers in unit 3 reported no injuries.
SEATBELTS: Drivers of units 1, 2, and 3 and all occupants were wearing seatbelts
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a traffic

WHAT: Serious Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE: Vermilion County Road 3550 North and Vermilion County Road 770 East
WHEN: August 26, 2017 at 10:43am
VEHICLES: Unit 1: 2004 Ford F150 Pick-Up
Unit 2: 2006 Peterbilt Truck Tractor
DRIVERS: Unit 1: Samuel R. Mikel 23Years Old, Hoopston, IL
Unit 2: Todd B. Harweger 56 Years Old, Buckley, IL
PASSENGERS: No Passengers
PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, unit 1 was traveling
westbound on Vermilion County Road 3550 North. Unit 2 was traveling southbound on Vermilion
County Road 770 East. The driver of unit 1 became distracted from inside of unit 1 and ran the four way
stop sign at that location. Unit 2 had already stopped and was half way through the intersection when unit
1 ran into the tires of unit 2.
TRANSPORTS: Driver of unit 1 was transported by Air Life to an area hospital. The driver of unit
2 reported no injuries.
SEATBELTS: Drivers of units 1, and 2 were wearing seatbelts
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to stop at a stop sign, and using an
electronic communication device while driving. 

Hoopeston Police Department Welcomes Officer Cahoe

The Hoopeston Police Department is honored to have Officer Clayton Cahoe on the police roster as a full time officer effective 8/25/17.  He comes from Watseka, where he worked as a part-time officer.  Officer Cahoe began his first day on the job on 8/26/17 and looks forward to his career with HPD.

Driving While License Suspended H17-3177

Location: Penn/Market
Arrested: Terry Williams (28) of Hoopeston
Details: Mr. Williams was pulled over by HPD officers in reference to an earlier 
incident in the night.  A computer check revealed that his license was 
suspended.  Subject was given a NTA in traffic court and released.
 
Driving While License Suspended H17-3230
Date & Time: August 25, 2017    3:09pm
Location: 4th ST/Lincoln
Arrested: Gerardo Resendis-Duran (29) of Hoopeston
Details: Computer check on subject, during a routine traffic stop, revealed 
his driver’s license to be suspended.  He was transported to HPD
where he was released with a citation.
 
Driving While License Revoked, Operating Uninsured Vehicle H17-3243
Time: 1:35am
Location: 500 blk W Elm
Arrested: Troy Knight (30) Alvin male
Details: HPD officers were looking for a vehicle that was reported as an unauthorized use of said vehicle.  While on routine patrol, officers located vehicle and performed
a traffic stop.  A computer check revealed that the driver, Troy Knight, had
a revoked driver’s license.  He was arrested and taken to HPD.  After being 
processed and paying bond, subject was released with 2 traffic citations and a
date for traffic court.
 
 
Keys found 
Details: 2 keys on a ring were found at lions shelter at park.  Owner can identified
and claim at HPD
 
Found Fishing Tackler
Details: Fishing tackle was found at the Lagoon and can be identified and claimed
at HPD
 
Traffic Accident H17-3261

Location: 1023 W Main, The Pump
Unit #1: 2004 Dodge Ram driven by Andrew Vaughn
Unit #2: 2005 Kia Utility (parked and unoccupied) owned by Tamera Crawford
Details: Unit 1 while backing out of a parking space struck Unit #2 which was parked
and unoccupied.  There were no injuries, no citations issued and both units
were insured.
 

Cream of the Crop Pretty Baby Contest, Twins, Triplets and More Contest

The ninth annual Cream of the Crop Pretty Baby Contest will take place during the 74th National Sweetcorn
Festival on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the McFerren Park Civic Center in Hoopeston, Illinois. Registration
will begin at 9:00 a.m. with the contest following at 10:00 a.m. Trophies and ribbons will be awarded in five
age categories, as follows: 0-6 months, 7-12 months, 13-18 months, 19-24 months, and 25-36 months. An
overall winner will also be named. Attire is the contestant’s choice.
The first annual Twins, Triplets, and More Contest will also take place during the National Sweetcorn Festival,
immediately following the Pretty Baby Contest. Registration will take place from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Most and
least alike will be awarded in each of the following age categories: infants under 1 year, 1 year, 2-3 years, 4-5
years, 6-8 years, 9-10 years, 117-17 years, 18 and over. Trophies will be awarded for overall most and least
alike.
Entry fee is $5 for each contest. Contestants may enter as an individual in the Pretty Baby Contest and as a
group in the Twins, Triplets, and More Contest with paid entry to each contest.
All proceeds benefit the Hoopeston Chapter of Blessings in a Backpack

Unit #1: 2010 Ford Sedan driven by Edward Damrath (28) of Hoopeston
Unit #2: 2000 Ford F350 driven by Larry Chaffee (72) of Boswell, IN
Details: Unit #1 failed to yield right of way while turning east bound onto Orange St from Market St and struck Unit #2, who was travelling east bound on Orange St.  No injuries, no citations, both units insured.

Arrested: Raul Acosta (29) of Hoopeston
Details: Danville Police Department contact HPD in reference to outstanding charges
they had on Mr. Acosta.  Officers located subject and arrested him on DPD’s
charges only.  He was taken to HPD and later transported to the PSB.
 
Disobeying Police (City Ordinance) H17-3059
Time of Call: 05:45 am 
Location: 300 block N Front Street 
Arrestee: Solis, Candice W (F) (53) of Hoopeston 
Details: Hoopeston Police was summoned to a residence in the 300 block, upon arrival arrestee was having a verbal disagreement with other family members.   The arrestee refused to cooperate with officer on the scene.  She was taken into custody as to de-escalate the situation in the home, and her refusal to cooperate.   She was transported to HPD processed and later released on NTA for City Court.

Details: On the above time and date, a John Deere Combine travelling west bound may or may not have realized that they had struck the above property.   If anyone has information as to whom the farm Combine operator is, may contact Hoopeston Police.

Details: Unit #2 was traveling W. bound on Penn while Unit #1 was traveling S. bound on 3rd st. Unit #1 did not yield, striking Unit #2. Driver of Unit #2 was taken to Carle ER. Both units insured.

Details: At the above time and date, the complainant was just wanting informational report at the time of first contact.   Female contacted HPD back and requested a report be filed.

Complainant:  43 year old Hoopeston male
Arrested:   Renee Chandler (44) Hoopeston female
Details:   HPD officers were called to a domestic battery.  Upon investigation, Ms.
  Chandler was arrested and taken to HPD.  She was processed and later 
    transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Residential Burglary, Driving While License Revoked H17-2915 V17

Location:   800 blk N 6th St.
Complainant:  33 year old Hoopeston female
Arrested:   Jordan Pratt (30) Ridge Farm male
Details:   Complainant contacted HPD when she believed that someone was or had been
  in her house.  She told officers that she believed the suspect to be Mr. Pratt.
  After an investigation, HPD officers located subject.  A computer check revealed
  that his driver’s license was revoked.  Subject was taken to HPD, and while
  being processed a phone that was stolen from the complainant’s residence was
  located on the subject’s person.  He was arrested on the above charges and taken
  to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Details: HFD was called out in reference to a carbon monoxide alarm that was going off.
Fire units searched the residence and found that the batteries were low in the alarm.

Cited: Austin Rhodes (42) of Hoopeston
Details: HPD responded to the above reference a possible harassment complaint. Mr. Rhodes was indicated as the suspect and later located and transported to 
HPD where he was released on an NTA for the above charge.

Details: The driver of Unit 2 called in about striking Unit 1 while it was parked along Main Street.  Driver of Unit 2 stated he was pulling into the parking lot of Dairy Queen and did not realized the trailer had struck the parked unit.    Damage only reported, no injuries, both units insured.  No Tickets issued.

Details:   HPD officers were called to the above location for a report of domestic 
  battery.  Mr. Davis was arrested, taken to HPD and processed.  He was later
  transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Details: While on patrol officers observed a vehicle with no registration. 
Officers conducted a traffic stop, where the above female was issued a citation and was released with a Vermilion County Court Date.

Details:   Complainant contacted HPD in reference to the theft of a battery from his 
  vehicle sometime in the last 4 weeks.  An investigation continues.

Time:   11:05pm
Location:   800 blk E Wyman Av
Complainant:  38 year old Hoopeston male
Arrested:   15 year old Paxton juvenile
Details:   HPD responded the above location in reference to the theft of shoes.
  Complainant told officers that juvenile was in his apartment earlier in the 
  week, and noticed the shoes missing today. After an investigation, HPD 
  officers located juvenile and arrested him for theft.  He was taken to HPD, 
  processed and later released to a guardian.

Complainant: 58 year old Hoopeston Woman 
Details: At the above time the complainant contacted HPD reference to a missing Garden Gnome named Dopey Dwarf from the flower bed area by one of the buildings.  Dopey was seen last on February 28th, 2017 in the early evening hours.

Details: HFD and HPD were sent to investigate the illegal burning of materials from a trailer that was being torn apart for disposal.    Fire was put out.

Unit #2: 2014 Ford Fusion owned by Joel Schuler of Hoopeston
Details: When unit 1 was backing out of residence it struck Unit 2 which
was legally parked on the street.

Details: HFD was called to the area for investigation of smoke showing in the area.
Investigation revealed a trash fire.
