Hoopeston Police Department Report December 19-25

Driving While License Revoked H17-5391
Time: 2:26am
Location: 1000 Blk E Thompson
Arrested: Juan Perez (47) of Hoopeston
Details: HPD officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Mr. Perez was driving.  A
computer check revealed that subject’s driver’s license was revoked.  He was
arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was given a citation and later released on a Notice to Appear in traffic court.
 
Burglary H17-5430
Time: 2:04 pm
Location: 400 blk E. Honeywell
Complainant: 57 year old Hoopeston female 
Details: Officers responded to the above in reference to a burglary to residence complaint. An investigation continues. 
 
Structure Fire
Time: 12:23 pm 
Location: 401 N Market Street 
Details: HFD, Arrow, HPD, all responded to report of a house on fire, Then Rossville Fire was requested for man power on scene.   No report of Injuries, no report of damages.   
 
Warrant Arrest H17-5461 V17-11995

Location: 800 blk E Orange
Arrested: Derek O’Neal (26) Hoopeston male
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location in reference to an unusual
amount of traffic in and out of the residence.  A computer check revealed that
Mr. O’Neal had an outstanding warrant out of Vermilion County.  He was
arrested, taken to HPD and processed.  He was unable to bond and was taken
to the PSB in Danville.
 
Theft, Violation of Credit/Debit Card Act H17-5478

Complainant: 42 year old Hoopeston woman
Details: Complainant made a report reference an unauthorized
debit from her bank account
 
Rollover Accident
Date & Time: December 24, 2017  8:25am
Location: 1300 East rd & Route 9
Details: Fire Department and Hoopeston Police assisted Vermilion County
with a single vehicle rollover accident.  Hoopeston Police officer
assisted female who was trapped inside vehicle.  She was 
removed and transported to hospital.

Details: Fire Department and Hoopeston Police assisted Vermilion County
with a single vehicle accident. Driver in ditch. Vehicle towed out of

Location: 1st Ave & Orange
Unit #1: 2009 Nissan Sentra driven by Helen T Simpson (20) of Alabama
Unit #2: 2008 Chevy Aveo driven by Danny R Justice (24) or Hoopeston
Details: Unit 1 was traveling eastbound on Orange and lost control due
to ice and snow.  Unit 1 swerved into the westbound lane and
struck Unit 2.  No injuries reported.  No citations issued
 
Domestic Battery, Possession of Methamphetamines, Warrant Arrest   
H17-5513  V17-12058
Time:    7:35pm
Location:    500 blk W Penn
Complainant:  28 year old Hoopeston female
Arrested:    Matthew Avalos (34) Hoopeston male
Details:    HPD officers were called to the above location on a report of domestic
   violence.  A computer check revealed that Mr. Avalos had an outstanding
   Iroquois County warrant for FTA Driving While License Suspended.  While
   being searched, subject was found to have methamphetamines on his person.
   He was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later transported
   to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.
 

Hoopeston Police Department Report December 16-17

Wanted on Warrant H17-5331
Time: 12:42am
Location: 300 block of W. Washington 
Arrested: Jessica Carpenter (38) of Hoopeston
Details: While out with Carpenter a computer check revealed that she had an active warrant through Vermilion County. Carpenter was taken to HPD, processed and later transported to the PSB. 
 
Bicycle Found 
Time: 06:30 AM
Location: Hoopeston Coin Laundry, S. First Avenue
Detail: Roadmaster Granite Peak Mountain Bike was located at the above location.  Owner may claim the bike at the Hoopeston Police Department.  
 
Criminal Damage to Property (Under) H17-5353
Time:    4:06am
Location:    700 blk S 3rd St
Complainant:  28 year old Hoopeston male
Arrested:    Efrain Flores (22) Hoopeston male
Details:    HPD officers were called to the above location for a criminal damage report.
   Upon investigation, officers found Mr. Flores to be the cause of the damage.
   Subject was located, arrested and taken to HPD for processing.  He was
   later released with a criminal court date.

Traffic Accident H17-5298
Time: 3:04 pm
Location: 800 blk E. Orange
Unit #1: 2007 Chevrolet Sedan driven by Elizabeth Samet (16) of Rankin
Unit #2: 2013 Ford CMAX driven by Darrell Sinders (77) of Saint Joseph
Details: Unit #1 was pulling out of a parking lot in the 800 blk of E. Orange and attempted to enter the westbound lane when it struck Unit #2 that was travelling westbound. No citations were issued. Driver of Unit #2 was transported to Carle in Hoopeston. Unit #2 was towed from the scene. 
 
Wanted on Warrant (Vermilion County) H17-5307
Time: 6:52 pm
Location: 300 blk W. Main
Arrested: Stacy Watson (35) of Hoopeston
Details: Subject presented herself at the HPD to turn herself in on Vermilion County warrant 2017TR1904 FTA $3,000 (10%) + $75 FTA fee cash bond. Subject posted bond and was released with a new court date. 
 
 
Trespassing; Assault H17-5309
Time: 7:28pm
Location: 400 block of S. 3rd St
Complainant: (66) year old Hoopeston male 
Arrested: Colton J. Simon (22) of Hoopeston 
Details: Officers responded to the above location in reference to a dispute. 
Mr. Simon was charged with the above, transported to HPD where he was 
processed and later released with a notice to appear in Hoopeston City Court.

Traffic Accident (PD) H17-5213
Time: 08:10 AM
Location: KBA Limited Property 100 N 1st Ave. 
Unit 1: 2003 Peterbilt Semi driven by Leroy Stewart Jr. (61) (M) of Milwaukee WI
Property Damaged: Fire Hydrant belonging to City of Hoopeston 
Details: At the above time, Hoopeston Water Department Crew contacted HPD in reference to a Fire Hydrant being broke off at ground level.  Unit 1 had comparable damage to it and matched parts were found.   Unit is insured, No tickets or injuries reported at the time of incident.  
 
Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia  H17-5218  V17-11648
Time: 7:29pm
Location: 800 blk E Wyman
Arrested: Lacy Simpson (29) Hoopeston female
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location in reference to a loud noise 
complaint.  Officers checked out with Ms. Simpson and after an investigation,
methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia was located within her belongings.
She was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  She was later transported to
the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Unit 1: 2012 Red Dodge Caliber driven by Dorothy C Arnold (F) (83) of Hoopeston 
Unit 2: 2013 Blue Chevy UT driven by Sue E Wagoner (F) (65) of Hoopeston 
Details:     At the above time HPD was requested to respond report of an accident that occurred at the location.   Unit 2 was almost through the intersection when unit 1 clipped the back end of Unit 2.   No report of Injuries, Both units insured,
 
 
Disobeying Police Officer H17-5228 
Time: 12:18 pm
Location: 400 block S 5th Street Hoopeston 
Arrested: Staats, Christopher Caleb (M) (21) of Hoopeston 
Details: Officer was dispatched over to check the status of the above arrestee after receiving a call that the male was in the alley yelling on his phone.  It was also relayed that the male was becoming ill and needed to be checked on.   Upon Officer Arrival the arrestee became uncooperative and insulant refusing to quiet down.    Arrested and transported to Hoopeston Police Department processed on the above charge and released on Notice to Appear Hoopeston Court.

Traffic Accident H17-5098
Date & Time: December 1, 2017      8:37am
Location: Third Street & Penn Street
Unit #1: 1995 Buick LeSabre driven by Stephen Mach (65) of Rossville
Unit #2: 2015 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Jessica D Chase (40) of 
Hoopeston.
Details: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on Third Street failing to yield
and proceeded to make a right hand turn.  Unit 1 struck Unit 2 who 
had the right of way and was traveling west on Penn Street.  
Both vehicles had extensive damage and towed from scene.
Fire Department also responded for a smoking engine.   
Driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure To Yield at Intersection. 
 
Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Fleeing and
Eluding, Driving While License Revoked H17-5107 V17-11402
Time:    20:15pm
Location:    500 blk N 7th Ave
Complainant:  37 year old Hoopeston female
Arrested:    Joseph Nicholas (40) Westville male
Details:    HPD was dispatched to the above location on a domestic situation.  When 
   officers got on scene, Mr. Nicholas lead them on a chase through Hoopeston
   and into Indiana.  After a single vehicle accident into a field, subject was
   arrested.  He was taken to the PSB in Danville on the charges listed to await
   arraignment.
 
Criminal Trespass To State Supported Property H17-5113
Date & Time: December 2, 2017     7:35am
Location: 400 Blk E Honeywell
Arrested: Robert L Deaton (44) of Hoopeston
Details: Officer responded to above for a disturbance.  Deaton, who is banned from
  property, was taken into custody and charged with above. 
He was released with a notice to appear in Vermilion County Court.
 
Driving While Under the Influence H17-5117
Time: 1:52pm
Location: 824 S Dixie Hwy, McDonalds
Arrested: Chasity Hough (41) of Fairmount
Details: HPD officers were called to McDonalds for a female that was “acting strange”.
Officers performed a Field Sobriety Test where it was found that she was
under the influence.  She was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  After
paying bond, she was released with a traffic citation and date for traffic court.

Location: 700 blk S 1st Ave
Arrested: Bridgett Strawser (22) Hoopeston female
Misty Watson (36) Hoopeston female
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location in reference to a fight. After
an investigation, but subjects were arrested.  They were taken to HPD, processed
and released with a notice to appear and city court date.

Date & Time: December 4, 2017 
Locations: 100 blk E Orange
Arrested: Matthew R Langenfeld (20) of Hoopeston
Details:                  After an investigation was complete subject was charged with Burglary to                      
business.  Subject is already in custody at PSB on other burglary charges.

Date December 4, 2017 
Location: 1000 blk W Chestnut
Arrested: Matthew R Langenfeld (20) of Hoopeston
Details: Subject was charged with Burglary to business.  Already in
custody at PSB on other burglary charges.
 
Traffic Accident H17-5173
Time: 1:10 pm
Location: 4th Ave./E. Elm
Unit #1: 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by Joshua Jerome (35) of Hoopeston
Unit #2: 2010 Grumman Postal Truck
Details: Unit #2 was parked on the south side of W. Elm when Unit #1 backed out of a driveway in the area and struck Unit #2. No injuries and no citations. 
 
Possession of a Firearm by a Felon H17-5193 V17-11563
Time: 7:01 pm
Location: 300 blk E Lincoln
Arrested: William Lyons (33) of Hoopeston
Details: Officers were standing by when a firearm was located in a vehicle. William Lyons was arrested and charged with the above. He was transported to HPD and then to the PSB.
 
Vermilion County Warrant (2017CM0403) H17-5201
Time: 10:40 AM
Location: 301 W Main Street HPD 
Arrestee: Edwards, Beau J (M) (37) of Hoopeston 
Details: Mr. Edwards came to HPD and surrendered himself to our custody on the VC Warrant:  2017CM0403 Offenses involving Secretary State Vehicle Title.   He posted the required bond $3,000 10% plus $75 FTA Fee.   He was released from our custody with a new court date. 
 
Possession of Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Identification, No Valid Driver’s 
License, Disobeying Stop Sign, Operating Uninsured Vehicle H17-5208
Time: 6:45pm
Location: Main/Market
Arrested: 14 year old Danville juvenile
Details: HPD officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle the juvenile was driving
after he didn’t stop at the above intersection.  After an investigation, subject was
arrested and charged with the above charges.  He was taken to HPD, processed
and later released to a guardian.  
 
Possession of Methamphetamine H17-5209   V17-11606
Time: 9:17pm
Location: 900 blk W Main
Arrested: Michael Cox (41) of Hoopeston
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location for a subject who was not
supposed to be on the property.  Subject advised officers that he was in
possession of methamphetamines.  He was arrested, taken to HPD and processed.
Later he was transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.
