Hoopeston Police Department Report 3/26-3/30/19

Operating Vehicle on Suspended Registration; Wanted on Warrant

Time:          11:21pm

Location:    400 block of S. 1st Ave

Arrested:     Courtney F. Gibson (36) male of Danville

Details:       While on a traffic stop a computer check revealed that Mr. Gibson’s registration was suspended due to insurance violation. The computer check also revealed Gibson had an active warrant out of Vermilion County (#08SC94)

                   Gibson was taken to HPD, charged with the above and later released with a new court after posting bond.

Time:          6:00pm

Location:    1000 block of W. Honeywell

Arrested:     Skylar Pickett (27) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD was dispatched the above in reference to a fight call. After speaking to subjects on scene Pickett was charged with the above. Pickett was taken to HPD, where he was processed and later transported to the PSB.

 

Aggravated Battery, Armed Violence w/Weapon,                 H19-1538   V19-2359

Time:          2:29 AM

Location:    Casey’s General Store, 1022 W Penn Street

Victim:        20 year old Milford male

Arrested:     17 year old Hoopeston male

Details:       HPD officers called out with a fight in progress at the above location.  Both

                   the victim and suspect were transported to the hospital via Arrow Ambulance.

                   The suspect was released from the ER and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was

                   later transported to the juvenile detention center in Danville to await arraignment.

No Valid Driver’s License, Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of

          Cannabis (city), Carrying Concealed Weapon (city)              H19-1552

Time:          12:10am

Location:    1St Av/W Orange St

Arrested:     Joshua Watson (34) (M) of Hoopeston

                   Ryan Nosler (24) (M) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Watson was driving for a traffic

                   violation.  A computer check revealed that his driver’s license was expired. 

                   An investigation led to officers finding cannabis, open alcohol and concealed

                   weapon.  Both subjects were arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  Mr.

                   Watson was given 2 traffic citations with traffic court date, and 2 city citations

                   with city court date.  Mr. Nosler was given 2 city citations with city court date.

 

Domestic Battery                    H19-1554

Time:            6:24 am

Location:      300 blk S 3rd Ave

Complainant: 21 year old Hoopeston female

Arrested:       Johnta L Collins (32) (M) of Hoopeston

Details:         HPD officers were called out for a disturbance and the above location.  Upon

                     investigation, Mr. Collins was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He

                     was later transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

 

Fire Call

Time:          10:15pm

Location:    824 S Dixie Hwy, McDonald’s

Details:       HFD and HPD were called to the above location for a report of possible kitchen

                   fire.  Fire was extinguished by the time fire units arrived on scene.  No injuries

                   were reported.

Complainant:        23 year old Hoopeston Female

Details:                 Complainant contacted HPD when she discovered person(s) unknown and without permission took items from her residence. Investigation continues, 

Hoopeston Police Department Report 3/20/19

Wanted on Warrant                H19-1354

Time:          1:45am

Location:    100 block of W. Penn

Arrested:     Joshua Kempen (29) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD officers checked out with Mr. Kempen while on patrol.  A computer check

                   revealed that he had an outstanding Vermilion County warrant.  The subject was

                   taken to HPD, processed and later transported to the PSB in Danville in lieu of

                   bond.

Time:          7:46pm

Location:    200 block of E. Penn

Arrested:     Chase Hensley (23) (M) of Danville

Details:       HPD officer stopped the vehicle Mr. Hensley was driving for a traffic infraction.

                   A computer check revealed that he didn’t have a valid driver’s license.  He was

                   arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later released with a traffic

                   citation and traffic court date.

Time:          7:46pm

Location:    200 blk E Penn

Arrested:     Morgan Johnson (20) (F) of Danville

Details:       While on the above traffic stop, Ms. Johnson was asked to leave the scene

                   several times by HPD officers.  She refused and was arrested on city ordinance

                   violation of disobeying police.  She was taken to HPD, processed and later

Hoopeston Police Department Report 3/18 & 3/19/19

Possession of Cannabis (2 Counts)             H19-1337

Battery (1 Count)

Time:                    3:54 pm

Location:              700 E Thompson Avenue

Arrestee 1:            13 year old Male Juvenile from Hoopeston    Charged Poss Cannabis.

Arrestee 2:            15 year old Male Juvenile from Hoopeston,   Charges Poss Cannabis & Battery

Details:                 HPD responded to report of a fight in progress in the 700 block. Upon Police arrival the suspects had ran from the area.   Police located the suspects at 4th Street and E Thompson and they were taken into custody.  Subjects were transported to HPD processed and released to guardians, with Notice to Appear for Hoopeston City Court.

Unit #1:                          2016 Toyota Sedan driven by Donald Eckersley of Wellington

Property Damaged:         Tree

Details:                          HPD, HFD and Hoopeston EMS were dispatched to the above in reference to an accident.  Unit #1 left the roadway and collided with a tree.  Driver of Unit #1 was transported to the Hoopeston ER.

Unit #1:       2006 Nissan Quest driven by Andrew McKelvey of Hoopeston

Unit #2:       2014 Chevrolet driven by Logan Robinson of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD, HFD and Hoopeston EMS were dispatched to the above in reference to an accident that had just occurred. Unit #1 failed to yield at the intersection and struck the passenger side of Unit #2.  Driver of Unit #2 was taken to the Hoopeston ER.

                   Both Units insured. Driver of Unit #1 was cited for Disobeying Traffic Control Device and  Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid Accident

Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (city)              H19-1320

Time:          2:22am

Location:    Thompson Av/4th St

Arrested:     Katana Donaldson (18) (F) of Alvin

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Ms. Donaldson was driving for a traffic

                   violation.  After an investigation, drug paraphernalia was located inside the

                   vehicle.  She was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  She was later

                   released with a city citation and court date.

Location:    1022 W Penn St, Casey’s

Arrested:     Jeffery Rose (44)(M) of Pittsburg, IL

                   James Rose (58)(M) of Pittsburg, IL

Details:       HPD officers were called to the above location for a subject to be removed from

                   the property.  A computer check revealed that both subjects had outstanding

                   warrants out of Williamson County.  They were arrested and taken to HPD to

                   be processed.  They were later transported to the Public Safety Building in

                   Danville to await extradition.

Location:    300 block S 3rd Street

Arrested:     Cannon, Joseph C (M) (46) of Hoopeston

Details:        At the above time the subject was encountered while escorting a Female Caller to her home.  Subject was taken into custody on the above charge processed, and released on NTA for Hoopeston City Court

Unit 2:                  2004 Pontiac 4dr parked, Owner Deanna L Smithers of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD responded to a report of an accident that had just occurred.

Driver of Unit 1 was cited for the following:   1.  Leaving scene of an Accident,

                                                                     2.  Reckless Driving

                                                                          3.  Illegal Transportation of Alcohol.

Arrested:              Lovell, Alvin R (M) (40) of Wellington

Details:       Mr. Lovell was located in Hoopeston and was confirmed wanted on an Iroquois County Warrant 2018CF155 AGG Battery.  Bond is set at $100,000 10%,  he was unable to post his bond was transported back to Watseka by Iroquois County Police.

Complainant:        51 year old Hoopeston Woman

Arrested:              15 year old Rankin Juvenile Female

Details:       HPD was requested to the Junior High School reference to the arrestee battering another juvenile.   15 year old was transported to HPD where she was processed and then released to her mother.

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Neal was driving for a traffic violation. 

                   A computer check revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license.  He was

                   arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later released with a traffic

                   citation and court date.

Details:        At above time HFD, HPD and Arrow responded to report of strong odor of electrical at the residence.   No fire found or detected. All units cleared and no injuries.

Unit #1:       2006 Toyota Utility driven by Thesha Shackelford of Hoopeston

Unit #2:       2016 Chevrolet Utility driven by Chelsea Rutledge of Hoopeston

Details:       Unit #1 was beginning to drive southbound as Unit #2 was turning southbound onto S. 4th St causing them to collide. No injuries reported. No citations issued.

                   Both units insured.

 

Illegal Burn (city ordinance)            H19-1238

Location:    400 blk S 3rd St

Arrested:     Amelia Young (23)(F) of Hoopeston

Details:       HFD and HPD were called to the report of a possible structure fire.  Ms. Young

                   was arrested when it was found that she was burning inside of her garage.  She

                   was given an NTA for city court and released on scene.

 

Illegal Transportation of Alcohol, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (city), Possession of Cannabis (city)              H19-1239

Location:    710 W Orange, Budget Mini Storage

Arrested:     Lonnie Davis (44)(M) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD received a report of subject spinning tires at the above location.  Upon

                   investigation cannabis, drug paraphernalia and open alcohol was located inside

                   the vehicle.  Mr. Davis was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed. He was

                   later released with traffic citation and traffic court date and 2 city citations with

                   city court date.

Details:       Unit 2 was parked in front of a residence in the 600 block. Unit 1 backed her vehicle into the side of unit 2. No injuries reported. No citations issued. Both units insured

Arrested:     Griffin, Tyler C (M) (28) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Griffin was driving for a traffic violation.  A

                   computer check revealed the registration on the vehicle did not match the vehicle

he was driving. Subject was also found to have drug paraphernalia and meth in his possession. He was transported to HPD where he was processed and later transported to the PSB.

Details:        At the above time Hoopeston Police responded to report of an accident to investigate.   Both Units were driven from scene, Both Units Insured, No Report of Injuries at the time of report.  Unit 1 driver was cited for Expired Registration less than 30 days with a court date set for Danville.

Unit 2:         1997 Pontiac HB driven by Karla A Cassady (F) (36) of Hoopeston

Details:     At the above time,  HPD was summoned to investigate an accident that occurred. There were no report of injuries at the time, both units were driven from scene.  Both Units Insured

Arrested:     Zachary T. Garman (27) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers responded to the above in reference to multiple fight calls. While attempting to clear out the above location Garman refused to leave the property.

                   He was charged with the above and taken to HPD, where he was processed and later transported to the PSB.

Arrested:       Kurtis Simpson (31)(M) of Hoopeston

Details:         HPD officers were called out for a disturbance and the above location.  Upon

                     investigation, Mr. Simpson was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He

                     was later transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Ms. Hoover was driving for a traffic violation.

                   and a suspended driver’s license.  Subject was arrested and taken to HPD to be

                   processed.  She was later released after posting bond and receiving a Iroquois Co

court date.  She was also given a traffic citation and traffic court date.

Arrested:              Kincade, John H (53) (M) of Watseka IL

Details:                 At the above time the male was observed driving was located at the above location and taken into custody on the above charges.  Subject was later transported to PSB Danville to await arraignment.  Iroquois County Warrant was for Theft or Control of Stolen Property.

Unit #2:       2004 Jaguar X-Type driven by Jenifer Garison of Hoopeston

Details:       Unit #2 was Eastbound on W Orange St. & slowed to turn South onto 3rd Ave when Unit #1 struck Unit #2 from behind. No injuries reported. Unit #2 Insured. Unit #1 towed due to damage and the driver was cited for Operating Uninsured Vehicle.

Details:       Due to the snow driver of unit #1 lost control of the vehicle causing the vehicle to strike a stop sign. Unit #1 was insured. No injuries reported. No citations issued.

Details:       At the above time, the complainant reported to HPD that person(s) unknown had removed property from his vehicle while parked in the driveway.

Unit #1:       2009 Lincoln driven by Johnnie Shults (49) (M) of Alvin

Unit#2:       Gas Pump

Details:       HPD and HFD responded to the above location for vehicle versus gas pump.

                   Unit #1 was traveling northbound on Route 1, then turned eastbound on Penn St.

                   The vehicle lost control, went over an embankment, and ran into the gas pump.

                   No injuries were reported, the vehicle was insured and the driver received 2

                   traffic citations for Driving Under the Influence and Driving Under the

                   Influence .08 or more.

Complainant:        18 year old Hoopeston male

Arrestee:               Coon, Coty D (M) (21) of Hoopeston

Details:       The complainant reported that there was damage done to his vehicle.  Suspect was located, taken into custody to HPD.   He was processed and later transported PSB Danville to await arraignment.

Unit #2:       Parked 2019 Dodge Ram owned by Gilberto Alconedo of Ambia

Details:       Unit #2 was parked on the north side of road. Unit #2 was traveling west when it struck the rear bumper and then left the scene.  Unit 2 was insured.                          An investigation continues.

          Subject was released with mandatory court date issued for Danville Court House.

Arrested:     Cordale Hampton (32)(M) of Chicago

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Hampton was driving for a traffic

                   violation.  A computer check revealed that subject was driving on a revoked

                   driver’s license.  He was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was

                   later released with 2 traffic citations and a traffic court date.
