Complainant:        50 year old Hoopeston male

Details:       Complainant contacted HPD reference to his residence being broken into and property being removed without his permission.

Details:       HFD was dispatched to the above in reference to a garage on fire with flames showing. Rossville fire and Wellington fire were dispatched for mutual aid.

Complainant:        28 year old Hoopeston Female

Details:                 Officers responded to the above location for a burglary report to residence.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant and a possible witness.  Investigation continues.

Location:    100 blk N 6th Ave.

Arrested:     Justin Taylor (36) of Hoopeston

Details:       While officers were on patrol, they were flagged down in the area of the above in reference to a possible juvenile problem. Taylor was arrested on the above charges and transported to HPD where he was processed and released on a city NTA.

Complainant:                  57 year old Hoopeston Woman

Arrested:                        Ford, Vicki L (F) (60) of Hoopeston

Details:                          At the above time Hoopeston Police were summoned to the scene of a disturbance, arrestee fled the area after attacking the complainant and damaging the property.  Arrestee was transported to HPD processed and then transported to Vermilion County to await appearance of the above listed charges.

Disorderly Conduct                H19-2659

Arrested:     Terry L Williams (M) (29) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers responded to a call for a subject driving a go kart/dune buggy at a high rate of speed.  When officers arrived, the above subject was sitting in the driver’s seat of the vehicle.  Subject refused several times to step out of vehicle. Williams was arrested, processed and cited for above charges.

 

 

Keys Found

Keys were found 200 block of N Market. Owner may identify and claim at HPD.

Details:       Subject turned herself in to the Hoopeston Police Department on a FTA Warrant.  She was processed, posted bond and was given a new court date.

 

 

Driving While License Suspended             H19-2641

Location:    400 block of S. 5th St

Arrested:     Cortni Morris (30) F of Rossville

Details:       HPD officers stopped vehicle, Ms. Morris was driving on a traffic violation. 

A computer check revealed subject had a suspended driver’s license.  She was taken to HPD to be processed.  She was later released with a traffic violation and court date.

 

 

Fatal Car Crash in Iroquois County

WHEN:  Monday, May 20, 2019, 6:37 p.m. 
 
VEHICLE:  Unit One:  2015, Dodge Ram pickup pulling a trailer    Unit Two:  2013 Peterbilt truck tractor w/ tanker trailer  
DRIVER:  Unit One:  Jesse M. Maya, 26, Dry Ridge, KY    Unit Two:  Robert M. Blessing, 57, Rainesville, AL 
 
PASSENGERS: Unit One:  Esther Maya, 48, Dry Ridge, KY           Raul Maya, 51, Dry Ridge, KY (Deceased) 
 
PRELIMINARY:  Preliminary investigation has indicated the Dodge was traveling        eastbound on 3400 N at Route 45/52.  The Semi was traveling     northbound on Route 45/52. The Dodge failed to yield at the stop sign     and entered Route 45/52 into the path of the Semi, causing the Semi    to hit the Dodge.  Occupants of both vehicles were transported to local     hospitals with injuries.  The passenger of the Dodge, Raul Maya,                                    succumb to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at Riverside     Hospital.  The roadway was shut down for approximately 90 minutes due     to this incident. 
 
CHARGES:  Jesse M. Maya was issued a citation for failure to yield at a stop    intersection.

Details:       While officers conducting a traffic stop a computer check revealed Parrington to have an active warrant out of Clark County (12TR1044) Parrington was taken to HPD, where she was processed and later transported to the PSB to await extradition.

Unit #1:                2019 GMC Terrain driven by Mae Cline (F) (25) of Fowler, IN

Unit #2:                2006 Chevrolet Van driven by Oran Probasco (M) (47) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Unit #1 did not yield and entered into the intersection.  Unit #2 applied his brakes but was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.  No injuries were reported no tickets were issued.  Both parties were insured.

Unit #1:               2010 Ford Focus driven by Amber Zarate of Rossville

Unit #2:               2012 Chrysler Van owned by Sue Williamson of Hoopeston

Unit #3:               2017 Ford Utility owned by Judith LaBerdia of Paxton

Unit #4:               2018 Ford Utility owned by Joann Charbonneau

Details:                Unit #1 while traveling eastbound on Main St veered from the eastbound lane and struck Unit 2, Unit 3 and Unit 4. No Injuries reported. All units insured. Driver of unit #1 was cited for Improper Lane Usage.

Hoopeston Police Department Report 5/16/19

Driving With No License                            H19-2485

Location:    1st Av/Chestnut St

Arrested:     16 year old Hoopeston juvenile

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that the juvenile was driving after already

                   knowing that she didn’t have a valid driver’s license.  Subject was arrested and

                   taken to HPD to be processed.  She was later released her guardian with a

                   traffic ticket and traffic court date.

 

 

Disobeying Police    (City Ordinance)                 H19-2494

Location:    Honeywell Ave/10th Ave

Arrested:     Kadi Baker (18) of Hoopeston

Details:       Baker was advised multiple time that subjects without a license were not allowed to ride her motorbike. After observing another subject on her motorbike Baker was cited and given a notice to appear in Hoopeston City Court.

 

 

 

Battery (City Ordinance)       H19-2498  

Time:          10:17pm

Location:    1022 W. Penn St (Caseys)

Arrested:     Haley M. Edwards (22) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers were dispatched to the above in reference to a fight in progress.

                   Edwards was later located and charged with Battery. Edwards was taken to HPD, where so was processed and later released with an notice to appear in Hoopeston City Court.

Bridge repairs along Illinois 1 begin May 20

The Illinois Department of Transportation announces that repairs to the bridge that carries Illinois 1 over the North Fork in Vermilion County will begin Monday, May 20. 
 
The project involves patching and bridge deck repairs and will require lane closures, with twoway traffic maintained by flaggers. Work will be done between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and is expected to be complete by mid-September. 
 
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area. To avoid the work area, when feasible, use of alternate routes should be considered. Drivers are urged to pay close attention to changed conditions and signs in the work zones, obey the posted speed limits, refrain from using mobile devices and be alert for workers and equipment.

Warrant Arrest                       H19-2442

Time:          1:30am

Location:    200 blk E Main St

Arrested:     Bradley David (32)(M) Homeless

Details:       HPD officers saw Mr. David walking and believed he had an outstanding warrant.

                   A computer check confirmed the warrant out of Iroquois County.  He was arrested

                   and taken to HPD.  He was processed and later released to an Iroquois County

                   deputy.

 

Battery, Impersonating a Police Officer                       H19-2443

Time:             2:03am

Location:       7th St/Wyman Av

Complainant:  39 year old Hoopeston female

Details:          At above date and time, HPD officers were called to the area to meet with the

                      complainant in reference to a battery that had occurred.  Complainant advised

                      that unknown male subjects jumped out of a vehicle, threw her to the ground,

                      and advised that they were police officers.  After complainant asked to see a

                      badge, subjects got back into the vehicle and left the area.  An investigation

                      continues.

 

 

Violation of Home Confinement, Resisting Police Officer             H19-2447  V19-03728

Location:    9th Ave and Honeywell Ave

Arrested:     13 year old Hoopeston Juvenile

Details:       HPD officers were notified that juvenile had left his residence.  Officers found him at the above location.  After a small foot pursuit he was arrested.  He was taken to HPD, processed and taken to JDC to await arraignment.

Complainant:  54 year old Hoopeston male

Details:          Complainant came to HPD to report his vehicle had been broken into and

                      items stolen by an unknown individual(s).  An investigation continues.

 

Domestic Battery                    H19-2420   V19-3695 

Time:         4:21 pm

Location:    600 block E Maple Street

Victim:        44 year old Hoopeston woman

Arrestee:     Rivera, Rogelio (M) (48) of Hoopeston

Details:       Hoopeston Police were called to Hoopeston Carle ER for a female seeking treatment after being battered in a Domestic Dispute.  The arrestee was accused, located and transported to HPD processed and later transferred to Vermilion County to await a hearing.

Location:              700 block E Young Avenue

Victim:                 28 year old Hoopeston Woman

Arrestee:               Carey, Davion L (M) (29) of Hoopeston

Details:       Hoopeston Police were called to the area of 800 block E Orange where the arrestee was trying to force the victim who was in the middle of the roadway back into the car.  Arrestee was detained and then arrested on the following charges:  Domestic Battery, Reckless Endangerment, Interfering with Reporting Domestic Violence.  He was transported to HPD and then later to the PSB in Danville to await a hearing.

Unit 1:         2016 Chrysler 4dr driven by Christian D Inman (18) (M) of Hoopeston

Unit 2:         2000 Chrysler 4dr driven by Daniel L Lugo (M) (18) of Hoopeston

Details:        Hoopeston Police responded to a report of a traffic accident, Yield Sign belonging to the City of Hoopeston was damaged in the crash. Both Units Insured, No reports of Injuries at the time of the report.  Unit 1 Cited for Failure to Yield at a Marked Intersection.

Unit #1:                2004 Pontiac driven by James Shoulders (45) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Unit #1 was traveling eastbound when traveled across the westbound lane and into the grass where the vehicle drove over the curb and struck the guide wire to a power pole. No injuries, no citations, Unit #1 insured.

Unit #1:                2010 Chevrolet HHR driven by Bryan Livingston (56) of Hoopeston

Unit #2:                2005 Ford Focus driven by Isaiah Sollers (22) of Danville

Details:                 Unit #2 was headed westbound on Orange and Unit #1 was headed eastbound. Unit #1 had just crossed the tracks when the rear drivers side spare tire came off and struck Unit #2 in the front passenger side fender. Both units insured. No injuries. No citations.

Criminal Trespass to State Supported Property                 H19-2365

Arrested:     Andrew D Cordova (M) (24) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers observed Cordova at the Parkview Court Apartments whom they know to be banned from the property.  He was arrested on the above charge, transported to HPD, processed and released with a NTA.

 

Hoopeston Police Department Report 5/9/19

Driving While License Suspended, Possession of Methamphetamine, Poss of Drug

Paraphernalia, Wanted on Champaign County Warrant.      H19-2343,  V19-3571

Time:          02:43 AM

Location:    300 Block W Main Street Hoopeston

Arrestee 1:  Asbury, Joseph W (M) (28) of Rossville IL

Arrestee 2:     Layton, Alfred R (M) (47) of Potomac IL

Details:       At the above time, Hoopeston Police preformed a traffic stop on a suspicious Vehicle.  Computer check revealed neither occupant had a driver’s license.  Mr. Asbury was suspended License, Poss of Meth, and Wanted of Champaign County Child Support Warrant which had a $3,200 cash bond.   He was taken into custody processed and later transported to PSB Danville to await arraignment, and then transfer to Champaign County or Post Bond.   Mr. Layton was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia which he was transported to HPD processed and later released with City Court date, on Notice to Appear. 

Hoopeston Police Department Report 5/8/19

Fire Call (VC Traffic Accident PI)

Time:          05:22 AM

Location:    State Route 9/N 1700 East Rd, River Bridge

Details:       At the above time, HFD, HPD, and Arrow were all dispatched to respond to a PI accident truck vs deer.  HPD stood by till Vermilion County could get on the scene. Driver of the truck was transported to Carle Hoopeston ED for treatment.  HFD assisted VC till the roadway was cleared.

Unit 1:         2007 Volkswagen Jetta driven by Dennis M Hendricks (M) (48) of Danville

Unit 2:         2011 Ford 4dr driven by Kalyn M David (F) (28) of Wellington

Details:       At the above time, HPD was requested to respond for an accident.  Unit 1 is at fault unit for the accident.  Driver unit 1 also cited for NO PROOF OF INSURANCE, set for Danville at Vermilion County Court.   Both units driven away from the scene.

Details:       Roberto R Nava (M) (48) of Rossville was stopped by HPD.  A computer check revealed he did not have a valid license.  He was arrested and transported to HPD where he was processed and released on a NTA.

Arrested:     Danyel Fink (F) (23) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers responded to the above in reference to a disturbance. Fink was arrested on the above charge.  She was processed and released with a city NTA.

Details:       Officers responded reference to a dispute between subjects.  Brian Kinnaird (M) (38)  of Hoopeston, was arrested for unlawful acts constituting disorderly conduct (city).  A search of his person revealed drug paraphernalia.  He was transported to HPD where he was processed and released on the above charges.

Complainant:        31 year old female

Details:                 Complainant contacted HPD when she discovered items missing from the          

                             residence, investigation continues.

 

 

Aggravated Domestic Battery; Interfering with Reporting of Domestic Battery

H19-2244             V19-3435

Time:                    8:27pm

Location:              700 block of S. 6th Ave

Arrested:              Dwight Rowe (27) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Officers were dispatched in reference to a domestic battery that had occurred. After locating the above subject he was taken to HPD, where he was charged with the above.  Rowe was processed and later transported to the PSB.

 

Violation of Probation            H19-2248   V19-3444

Location:    200 block of N. 6th Ave

Arrested:     13 year old Hoopeston male juvenile

Details:        Officers checked out with the above juvenile who was known to be on home

                     confinement. The juvenile was taken to HPD, where he was charged with the

                     above, processed and later transported to JDC. 

 

Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Warrant Arrest

                                      H19-2250     V19-3447

Time:           1:26am

Location:     300 blk W Penn St

Arrested:      Coty Morgeson (28) (M) of Hoopeston

                     Jessica Hardy (32) (F) of Hoopeston

                     Ashley Graves (26) (F) of Hoopeston

Details:         HPD officers were called to the above location for a suspicious incident.  Upon

                     investigation, officers located methamphetamines and paraphernalia.  Mr.

                     Morgeson was arrested for possession of those items.  A computer check revealed

                     that Ms. Graves had an outstanding warrant from Iroquois county.  Ms. Hardy

                     had 2 outstanding warrants from Vermilion County.  All 3 subjects were taken to

                     HPD to be processed.  Mr. Morgeson was taken to the PSB to await arraignment.

                     Ms.  Graves was picked up by an Iroquois County Deputy to await arraignment in

                     that county.  Ms. Hardy was able to post bond, released and given a new court

                     date.

Complainant:        60 year old Hoopeston male

Details:                 Complainant stated sometime after 12:00 am on May 4 items were removed from the property.       Investigation continues.

 

 

 

Traffic Accident            H19-2260

Unit #1:                2001 Dodge Truck driven by David Sanders (M) (27) of Watseka

Unit #2:                2016 Dodge Challenger driven by Alan Crawford (M) (64) of Hoopeston

Details:                 While traveling northbound an item from unit #1 vehicle flew out of the bed of the truck and hit unit #2.  No injuries were reported and no tickets were issued.  Both parties were insured.

Arrested:     Carter Martin (19) (M) of Hoopeston

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Martin was driving for a traffic violation.  A computer revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license.  He was arrested and

                   taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later released with a traffic citation and

                   traffic court date.

Arrested:     David Williams (27) (M) of Fowler, IN

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Williams was driving for a traffic violation.  A computer check revealed that he had a suspended driver’s license.  He was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later released with a traffic

                   citation and traffic court date.

Details:       Found black wallet that has identification in it that belongs to Seth Gredy.  He may claim the wallet at the Police Department Office.

 

Restraint of Dog Owner Duties

Location:         300 block of S 2nd Ave and S 3rd Ave.

Cited:          Morgeson, Jennifer J. (F) (41) of Hoopeston

Details:       Abby and Knots (2) dogs that were running at large in the area was located and taken back to the owners property.   Citation issued for City of Hoopeston Court. 

 

Found Property

Location:              State Farm Office 322 E Main Street Hoopeston

Details:       Gold ring with stone inset was found in the parking lot next to office on the ground.    Owner of the ring can come to HPD to claim.
