Due to our HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, despite vaccination, should wear a mask when indoors. Local transmission in Vermilion County decreased slightly to 558.36. Please continue to encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask when indoors, and make good decisions. Our actions can affect everyone in this community.
Indoor Mask Mandate begins today, 8/30/2021.
Regional Hospital Information
Two of our Region’s Hospital’s EDs were at Peak Census as of this morning. We have about 18 ADULT ICU beds open in Region 6 which includes 15 hospitals and 1 VA (Region 6 covers 21 counties). Status for our region as of this morning was that we have about 39 COVID patients in the ICU, 133 in non-ICU status, and 22 on ventilators. There are about 7 patients waiting in EDs right now for beds to be admitted. These numbers do not include the PUIs. Please remember it isn’t the number of actual beds available that is the problem, it is the number of available staff to provide care for those beds.
Hospitals throughout the state are suffering from the strain of limited staff and resources. IDPH has put in for federal resources for help, however, with Hurricane Ida, most available resources will be headed down to Louisiana.
