Ronald Dean Welker, 78, of New Port Richey, FL, passed away at 1:43 A.M. Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on August 17, 1947, in Monticello, IN, the son of Louis A. and Marjorie (Scales) Welker. He married Deborah Kay McCutchan on March 21, 1971, at the Martinton Church of Christ. She survives in New Port Richey, FL.
He is also survived by one daughter, Adrianne Coffman of California; one son, Adam (Melissa) Welker of New Port Richey, FL; one sister, Sharon Wiseman of Monticello, IN; one sister-in-law, Suzy Welker of Monticello, IN; six grandchildren, Salem Coffman, Koltyn Welker, Brittney Myers (Colin Carswell), Louis Welker, and Emma Welker; three great-grandchildren, Jaidyn Pate and Grayson and Ayla Carswell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Sandy (Dennis) Randall and Linda (Tom) Brown; one brother, Richard “Dick” Welker; brother-in-law, Paul Wiseman; and grandson, Andrew Myers.
Ronald worked at Switches in Logansport, IN and later at Modine Manufacturing as a production supervisor. He was also a farmer and raised hogs. He loved his ’77 red Corvette and going to the Smoky Mountains. Ronald also enjoyed visiting Cade’s Cove and going fishing.
Cremation rites will be accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in memory of Ronald to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.
