Mildred Owen, 91, of Hoopeston

Mildred Susan (Page) Owen, 91, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 3:07 P.M. Friday April 13, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born June 4, 1926, in Glasgow, KY, the daughter of Buford Hayden and Jenna Jewel (Wells) Page. She married Cecil Sewell Owen on June 17, 1944, in Glasgow, KY. He preceded her in death.
She is survived by four daughters, Joyce Giardina of Joliet, IL, Marilyn (Steve) Unger of Hoopeston, IL, Sharon (Don) Dixon of Hoopeston, IL, and Cindy (Dan) Houmes of Phoenix, AZ; one son, Steven (Christy) Owen of Orangeville, IL; one sister-in-law, Roxie Page of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Max (Esther) Page of Hoopeston, IL; 18 grandchildren, Todd (Maureen) Giardina, Kim (Tom) Roberson, Evan (Danielle) Giardina, Nathan (Lani) Unger, Seth (Susanne) Unger, Abigail (Troy) Budke, Colleen (Andy) Edington, Heather, Caleb, Melissa, Jonathan, Joshua, Matthew, and Micah Owen, Danielle (Bryan) Root, Adria (Dayton) Banas, and Ridge and Braze Houmes; 17 great-grandchildren, Nichole (Jim) Mitchell, Holly Giardina, Tom, Tyler and Tim (Kendra) Roberson, Ruby Joy Giardina, Earl, Mikayla, Evelyn, Owen, Isaac, Elsie, and Oliver Unger, Isaiah Budke, Haley Edington, Jubilee and Boaz Root, and 2 more on the way. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 sisters, Maynard Byers, Louise Boyles, and Maezell Pearson; 3 brothers, Milton Page, Bill Page, and Earl Page; 2 nieces; and 1 nephew.
Mildred was a homemaker. She attended the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston. She enjoyed playing weekly card games with her siblings and loved to host family gatherings and the annual Labor Day Owen family reunion.
A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday April 21, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Steven Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
