Virginia L. Powell, 68, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:15 A.M. Monday May 28, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born August 27, 1949, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Ivor Nathaniel Powell Sr. and Isabelle G. (Glover) Powell.
She is survived by two sons, Jason (Tara) Moore of Rankin, IL and Jeromy (Audrey) Powell of Rankin, IL; four granddaughters, Jasmine, Alexis, Julia, and Liberty; one step-granddaughter, Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Harlynny and Arianna; one sister, Margaret Shine of Normal, IL; one brother, Jerry (Sue) Powell of Hoopeston, IL. She is also survived by several cousins; nieces; one nephew; aunts; and uncles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Tina Powell; one sister, Yvonne Green; two brothers, Bill and Ivor Powell Jr.; one grandson, Mason Lee Powell; one great-grandson, Kh’yae Zae Moore; a niece, Billie Jo; a nephew, Dustin Powell; and many aunts and uncles.
Virginia worked most of her life. She was a supervisor at United Technologies in Hoopeston and also in South Carolina. After becoming disabled, she moved back to Hoopeston. She enjoyed playing bingo. Her greatest joys were her sons, her grandchildren, and her cat Sassy.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated and her family will hold a service at a later date.
