William "Bill" Medler, 67, of Hoopeston

William “Bill” Kelly Medler, 67, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:15 P.M. Sunday June 3, 2018, at his home.  He was born November 26, 1950, in Fairfield, IL, the son of Harry Charles and Alma Mae (Grissith) Medler.  He married Darlene Knapp on December 21, 1985 in Cissna Park, IL.  She survives in Hoopeston.

He is also survived two sisters, Sarah (Gene) Talbert of Evansville, IN and Margaret (Paul) Lange of Newton, IL; and 6 nieces and nephews, Mark and Scott Talbert, Cassie, Jasmine, and Nikki Gramm and Karl Lange.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

 Bill was a high school chemistry and biology teacher until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church, where he did a lot of volunteer work.  He loved helping others and was a volunteer for hospice and a landscaping volunteer at the Hoopeston Presbyterian Church.  Bill enjoyed gardening, reading, and traveling. 

Cremation rites will be accorded and a visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Saturday June 16, 2018 at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church 403 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  A memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating.  No burial will be held.
