Dale Evans, 82, of Brook, IN., formerly of Wellington, IL, passed away at 3:48 A.M., Thursday June 7, 2018. He was born December 6, 1935 at his home in Wellington, IL., the son of Merle and Opal (Wall) Evans.
He is survived by one sister, Rita (Dr. John) Thompson of Honolulu, Hawaii; two nieces, Dr. Karen (Keith) Comacho, and Julie (Robert) Mosely; one great-niece, Miranda; and one great-nephew, Grayson.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Dale attended Chapman and Wellington grade schools. He moved to Brook, IN., where he finished high school and graduated with honors. After graduation, he took a job at the Brook Post Office for several years. He then served in the National Guard. After that, he returned to the farm to raise Kosher Veal calves and to work construction and be a heavy machine operator. Due to a farming accident he was forced to quit and sell the farm, but he kept the homestead. He collected antique guns, cars and trucks. Dale was a life member of the NRA, liked watching Nascar, belonged to several gun and car clubs, and enjoyed boating and surfing.
A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. CST Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M.CST on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
