Rupert Anthony Ellegood, 87, of Sullivan, Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston

Rupert Anthony Ellegood, 87, of Sullivan, Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston, passed away Wednesday August 1, 2018, at Mason’s Point, in Sullivan.

Mr. Ellegood was born on June 17, 1931, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, the son of R.L. and Agnes (Lee) Ellegood.  He married Goldie L. Ellegood, in July of 1966.  She preceded him in death on June 7, 2009.

He is survived by one daughter Linda Sue Brandenburg of Northville, Michigan; one son- Michael Anthony Ellegood of Lady Lake, Florida; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter- Betty Jean McFarland, three brothers and three sisters.

Rupert graduated from Fulton High School, in Fulton, Kentucky.  He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959.  He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge and American Legion. 

Graveside services for Rupert Ellegood will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Father Tom Gibson officiating.  Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Masonic services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Rupert’s life.  Memories of photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
