Juan Resendez Linares, 95, of Hoopeston

Juan Resendez Linares, 95, of Hoopeston, passed away at 10:11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at home with his family by his side. 

Mr. Linares was born on September 23, 1922, in Querétaro, Mexico, the son of Arcadio and Eduarda (Resendez) Linares.  He married Margarita Vargas on June 10, 1949, in Harlingen, Texas.  She preceded him in death on May 8, 2014.

He is survived by one daughter- Maribel (Ken) Baumberger of Indianapolis; five sons- Juan Jose “Joe” (Jane) Linares of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Ernesto “Ernie” Linares of Hoopeston, Raul “Rudy” (Lori) Linares of Westville, George (Amy) Linares of Hoopeston and Raymond (Sarah) Linares of Bloomington, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers- Bartolome Linares and Domingo Linares; and one sister-Maria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter- Maria Linares, son- Eduardo “Eddie” Linares and two infant sons.

Juan worked for over 30 years at Joan of Arc, in Hoopeston, until his retirement in 1989.  He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where he was very active in helping around the church.  Juan enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard.  Juan will be fondly remembered by family and friends: great sense of humor, quiet dignity, strong work ethic, faithfully lived his values and lead by example.  Juan will be missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Thomas Gibson as the main celebrant for the Holy Mass of Christian Burial.  Following the services he will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Memorials may be made in Juan’s name to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Juan’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
