Frank Lee Green, 87, of Hoopeston

Frank Lee Green, 87, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:35 P.M. Sunday October 7, 2018 at Watseka Rehab and Nursing Health Care Center.  He was born December 20, 1931, in Buckley, IL, the son of Cecil and Amy Marie (Huser) Green.  He married Shirley Ann Unger in Peoria, IL, in 1951.  She survives in Hoopeston.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother-in-law, Tom Parker Unger.

Frank served in the United States Navy for four years.  After the service, he went to college on the GI Bill and attended the University of Illinois and Purdue University, where he received a Bachelor of Science degree and master’s degree in administration.  After college, Frank worked in the office at US Steel in Gary, IN and later worked in the Administrative Office at the school in Hobart, IN for many years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church and the Hoopeston Masonic Star Lodge #709.  Frank was very active in the town of Hobart, IN, while living there and was instrumental in getting a town swimming pool built.

A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday October 10, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL, with a masonic service being held at 6:45 P.M. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday October 11, 2018 at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church 403 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL, with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.
