Emma E. Reardon, 90, of Danville

Emma E. Reardon, 90, of Danville, passed away at 5:19 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2019, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Emma was born on February 26, 1929, in Danville, the daughter of John and Gertrude (Jacks) Pichon.  She married Asa Kenneth Cottle on October 3, 1945, in Illinois.  He preceded her in death on February 1, 1976.  She later married Robert Reardon on October 2, 1976, in Bismarck.  He preceded her in death on August 14, 2008.

She is survived by four sons- Michael (Linda) Cottle of Rossville, Jim (Cindy) Cottle of Texas, Dan (Mary) Cottle of Indiana and Larry (Becky) Cottle of Danville; three daughters- Nancy (Vic) McFadden of Danville, Lori (Mike) Osborn of Texas and Kim (Darrell) Muirheid of Nebraska; one sister- Frances (Ernie) Benting of Danville; 24 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, three brothers- Robert, Harold and Jerry Pichon and four sisters- Edith Sporcich, Martha Nelson, Irma Galasinski and Mary Williams.

Emma was a member of the Chestnut Street Church of Christ.  She enjoyed music, playing the piano and accordion, painting, shopping and doing puzzles.  Emma had a profound pride of her children’s successes and the way they have passed them through the generations.  She also had a great sense of humor that only the ones close to her could recognize. 

The family would like to extend a very special “Thank You” to Dr. Kaufmann, Dr. Rowland, and Melissa at Dr. Rowland’s office and Maren and Sarah (with an “H”) at Carle Hospice.

A Celebration of Emma’s Life will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, May 5, 2019, at the Chestnut Street Church of Christ, with Pastor John Morris officiating.  Burial will follow the service in Potomac Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the church.  Memorials may be made to the Chestnut Street Church of Christ.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Emma’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
