Emilie "Emy" Lorraine Spain, 66, formerly of Potomac

Emilie “Emy” Lorraine Spain, 66, formerly of Potomac, passed away at 4:57 p.m. on Friday, May 17, 2019. She was surrounded by family at the Ascension Via Christi Hospital St. Francis, in Wichita, Kansas.

Emy was born on June 25, 1952, in Danville, Illinois. She was the daughter of Truman “Buck” and Marjorie (Owens) Spain of Potomac.

She is survived by her only daughter Kari (Chad) Talbott and grandchildren Audrey and Cory Talbott of Danville. Also surviving are her brother Truman “JR” (Connie) Spain of Kansas, three sisters – Anne (Larry) Tellier of Florida, Gretchen (Alfred) Valdez of Texas and Melodie (Jim) Menke of North Carolina, three nieces, four nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

Emy was a graduate of Bismarck High School and Danville Area Community College. She worked at the Curtis A. Anderson Law Office, in Danville and enjoyed helping clients and decorating their window displays for many years. She loved animals, especially her beloved rat terrier JayJay and Killer the cat.  Emy was an avid reader and enjoyed creating and painting crafts.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials may be made to the Potomac Library to ensure her love of reading continues to others.

A Celebration of Emy’s Life will be held at 12:00 p.m. Friday, May 24, 2019, at Blurton Funeral Home, 400 N. Vermilion, Potomac, with Pastor George Desmond officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest following the services in Potomac Cemetery.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Emy’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
