Norma L. Collier, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Hoopeston

Norma L. Collier, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Hoopeston, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Heritage Health, in Springfield.

Norma was born on January 23, 1935, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Edward E. and Mae E. (Beggs) Long.  She married Charles Collier on October 17, 1970, in Hoopeston.  He preceded her in death on January 21, 1985.

She is survived by one niece- Laura Johnson of Missouri; one nephew- Brian Richter of California; one step-daughter- Cynthia Call of Springfield; one step-granddaughter- Andrea Call of Springfield: and three step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Margaret Richter and step-grandson- Timothy Call.

Norma worked for General Mills, as a farm office clerk, for over 40 years.  She was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church and a past member of the Hoopeston Coin Club.  Norma loved going shopping and was always looking for that special bargain.  She also enjoyed working outside and she would always joke that she would work outside before cleaning inside her house.  Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family. 

A Celebration of Norma Collier’s Life will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2019, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  She will be laid to rest following the services in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Norma’s life.  Memoires or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
