Jackie Joe “Jack” Silver, 84, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:18 P.M. Thursday April 16, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born January 14, 1936, in Hoopeston, IL, the son of William and Emma (Williams) Silver. He married Mona Rose Boehme on October 2, 1955 and together they enjoyed 52 years of marriage. She preceded him in death. He later married Emma Lou Stevens on July 24, 2009 in Hoopeston. She survives in Hoopeston.
He is also survived by four sons, Mark (Barb) Silver of FL, Marty Silver (Cindy Casey) of Rossville, IL, Monte (Peggy) Silver of Hoopeston, IL, and Marlin Silver of Peoria, IL; four step-children, Edna (David) Parker of Rossville, IL, Lindy (Jerry) Serban of Hoopeston, IL, Charlie Reynolds of Hoopeston, IL, and Emma Fierens of MI; two sisters, Mary Jane Robling of FL and Martha Ann (Gary) Jackson of FL; one brother, Dan (Madge) Silver of Hoopeston, IL; nine grandchildren, Josh Silver, Jared (Kelli) Silver, Jess (Ben) Doeden, Jolyn (Brandon) Clapp, Justin Silver (fiancée Anna), Julia Silver, Jack Silver, Jeremiah (Breane) Silver, and Jenna (Shane) Leslie; ten step- grandchildren, Meaghan, Susan, and Jamie Fierens, Bradley (Brittany) Lawson, Daniel Lawson, Chrissy and Donnie Best, Heather Nelson, Michaela (Kyle) Edwards, and Lindze Parker; ten great-grandchildren, Collin Hoskins, Lake (Chloe) Hoskins, Kaylan (Riley) Hines, Rex and Zak Doeden, Deegan, Miah, and Drenyn Leslie, and Colin and Charlotte Silver; and four great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Raymond; and one step-son, Kevin Reynolds.
Jack owned and operated Silver Bros. Inc. with his brother, Dan, until his retirement. He was a 50-year member of the Brick Layers Union Local #8. He attended the First Baptist Church in Hoopeston where he was a life-long member and held many positions including choir member, song leader, deacon, treasurer, and teacher. Jack also volunteered at Camp Assurance in Georgetown, served on the Rossville Fire Dept. for several years, and was a former board member for Hoopeston Hospital. He enjoyed watching his kids and grandkids sporting events and other activities and loved playing golf.
Due to the current health concerns, a private family graveside service will be held on Wednesday April 22, 2020 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston. Friends and extended family are encouraged to line North Market Street at 11:45 A.M. Wednesday April 22, 2020, to greet the family as they proceed to the graveside rites.
