Larry James Creighton, 79, of Potomac

Larry James Creighton, 79, of Potomac, passed away at 1:09 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.

Larry was born on December 30, 1940, in Milford, Illinois, the son of Oscar and Pauline (Schaumburg) Creighton.  He married Wanda Huff on June 20, 1959.  She preceded him in death on March 6, 2000.

He is survived by three daughters- Jodi (Donnie) Whitlow, Jill (Jeff) Sidwell and Juli (Henry) Moulden all of Potomac; eleven grandchildren- Johnathan (Danielle Talbott) Whitlow, Jared (Gabrielle Michelon) Whitlow, Ellen (Chad) Cowen, Evan (Kelly) Spurlock, Emily (Jacob) Sollars, Nathan (Krista) Judy, Hannah (Ryan Gernantz) Judy, Katie Moulden, Dustin (Kala) Creighton, Kalob (Emily Allen) Creighton and Jeffrey (Alicia Ard) Creighton Jr.; nineteen great-grandchildren; brother- Tom Creighton of Mt. Vernon, Illinois; sister- Nancy (Ron) Brost of Lafayette, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, son-Jeff Creighton, two grandchildren- Ashley LaRae and Jewels Moulden and sister- Barb McCall.

 

Larry graduated from Wellington High School, in 1959.  He worked for General Motors, in Tilton, for 25 years, until his retirement in 1993.  After retiring, he worked part-time at Markwalders Station, in Potomac.  Larry was a member of the Potomac American Legion, North Fork Conservation Club, UAW Local #579 and Middlefork United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, and eating out, especially at Culver’s.  Larry loved his dog- Landon and spending time with his family and friends.    Larry was a strong man of faith. 

 

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 16, 2020, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac, with Pastor George Desmond officiating.  Burial will follow in Potomac Cemetery. 

 

Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.  Due to current health concerns we will be practicing social distancing guidelines.  Memorials may be made in Larry’s name to the Middlefork United Methodist Church. 

 

According to his wish’s cremation rites have been accorded.
