Anita Gagnon, 86, of Rossville

Anita Faye Gagnon, 86, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 9:30 A.M. Saturday October 24, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.  She was born September 14, 1934 in Burnetta, KY, the daughter of James and Lucy (Colyer) Burton.  She married Don Gagnon on May 25, 1956, in Hoopeston.  He preceded her in death.   

She is survived by one daughter, Tammy (Eric) Roberts of Rossville, IL; one son, Rick Gagnon of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Louetta Williamson of Lafayette, IN and Jewell Ladd of Mount Pleasant, TN; four grandchildren, Angel (Billy) Trumann, April Gagnon, Brandon (Tori) Roberts, and Brooke (Jared) Mason; 9 great-grandchildren plus one on the way; 10 great-great-grandchildren plus one on the way; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant son; and four siblings, Donald Burton, Juanita Steinwagner, Hettie Cornelius, and Roy Burton. 

Anita worked at the Department of Children and Family Services as a caseworker, until her retirement.  She attended the Rossville Church of Christ and was a member of the Rossville American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  Through the years, Anita enjoyed playing Pinochle and Yahtzee, bowling, dancing, and golfing.  She also loved to travel and plan social events at Hubbard Trail Country Club. 

A private funeral service will be held.  A public graveside service will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday October 31, 2020 at Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL.
