Alta Mae Herron, 71, of Potomac

Alta Mae Herron, 71, of Potomac, passed away at 9:23 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2021, at Le Conte Medical Center, in Sevierville, Tennessee.

 

Mae was born on May 13, 1949, in Danville, the daughter of Emory Payton and Carrie Bell (Cruse) Rumble. She married Roy Lee Herron on September 24, 1965, at the Potomac Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2005.

 

She is survived by four daughters- Debra (Rob) Acree-Richardson of Rantoul, Denise (Jim) Hunt of Potomac, Kim (Dan) Hunt of Potomac and Karri Herron of Indiana; fourteen grandchildren- Jonathon (Hope) Bishop, Ashley (Harry) Mills, William “Daniel” Acree, Danielle (Mat) Dishman, Joshua (Davida) Hunt, Whitney (Micah) Cleveland, Alyssa Hunt, Seth Pratt, Christian Hunt, Madisyn (Brynden) Deck, Serenity Hunt, Logan Hunt and Dakotah McCoy; seven great-grandchildren and two more on the way; sister- Lois (Lewis) Dickison of Alvin; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law-Bill Acree and several half-brothers and sisters.

 

Mae was a member of the Alvin Church of God, where she was a youth leader at the church and loved spending time with her church family. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, going on cruises with her family and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Mae loved spending time with her family and friends. She was so full of life and she always had a smile on her face anywhere she went.

 

A Celebration of Mae’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021, at the Alvin Church of God, with Pastor Dan Hunt and Pastor David Routien officiating. Visitation will be from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, at the church. Burial will follow the service in Gundy Cemetery, in Bismarck. Memorials may be made to the Alvin Church of God.
