Dorothy Darding, 93, of Rossville

Dorothy Louise Darding, 93, passed away at 5:46 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at her home.

Dorothy was born on September 27, 1927, in Fairmount, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Marie (Rice) Reeder. She married George Darding on April 30, 1947, in Rossville. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1988. She later married William Sherman in 2004, in Iowa. He preceded her in death on February 4, 2007.

She is survived by one daughter- Christol Stevens of Rossville; two sons- Bill (Elaine) Darding of Kewanee, Illinois and Jack Darding of Birmingham, Alabama; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; one half-brother- Don (Marth) Scaff of Quincy, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, daughter- Bonnie Brennen and two sisters- Helen Holder and Ellen Recore.

Dorothy worked at TeePak as a machine operator, in Danville for 25 years, until her retirement. She was a member of Morningstar Ministries and Rossville Historical Society. Dorothy enjoyed making crafts, quilting, ceramics, puzzles, gardening, and fishing.

A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 1, 2021, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Pastor Dan Mikel and Bill Darding officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Monday, at the funeral home. Burial will follow the service in Rossville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Morningstar Ministries. Due to current Covid-19 health concerns masks and social distancing will be required. The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Dorothy’s life.
