Andrew James Miguel, 17, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away on Thursday April 22, 2021 at his home.  He was born October 26, 2003 in Danville, IL, the son of Jimmy Miguel and Amanda Merrill whom both survive. 

He is also survived by three sisters, Sara, Savanna, and Julie Miguel; one brother, Brent Miguel; maternal grandmother, Deborah Merrill; paternal grandmother, Kathleen Annicelli; step-grandfather, Baves Miguel; special grandpa, Steve Goin; paternal great-grandmother, Shirley Miguel; maternal great-grandfather, Raymond Merrill; a special aunt, Dion Merrill and special aunt and uncle, John and Lindsey Miguel and several other aunts and uncles. 

He was preceded in death by his grandfather, John “Papa” Miguel and uncle, Jeff “Hefty” Heffelfinger. 

Andrew was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts since an early age.  He was a Life Scout and was involved in the National Youth Leadership training, the Order of Arrow, and was an avid marksman in arrow and shooting.  He attended Hoopeston Area High School where he was active in the Game Club, marching band, jazz band, chorus, and was involved in the combo for show choir.  He loved being on the computer, playing with nerf guns, collecting playing cards and polar bears, playing poker, and spending time with his family.  Andrew aspired to be a music teach or an English teacher. 

A visitation will be held 3:00 – 5:00 P.M. Wednesday April 28, 2021 at the Hoopeston Middle School Gymnasium 615 E. Orange St. Hoopeston, IL.  A memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 5:00 P.M. Wednesday at the school with Shawon Wise officiating.  Cremation rites will be accorded, and burial will be held at a later date.
