Bill E. Sanders, 82, of rural Rossville, IL, passed away at 1:25 A.M. Wednesday August 4, 2021, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born June 17, 1939, in Green County, IN, the son of Sewell and Freida (Steele) Sanders. He married Shirley Lee McAllister on December 12, 1964, at the St. James United Methodist Church in Danville. She survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Shelley (John) Potter of Anderson, IN; one son, Terry Wayne Ward of Jasonville, IN; one sister, Patricia (Ken) Covey of Hartford City, IN; 6 grandchildren, Jacob (Ivy) Potter, Jesse (Emily) Potter, Eric Potter, Lucas (Gina) Bennett, Zachary (Jessi) Bennett, and Joseph Bennett; 7 great-grandchildren, Wade Potter, Oakleigh Potter, Cassidy, Ethan, and Damien Allison, Payton Bennett, and Meadow Milburn; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Sherrey Sanders; three sisters; one brother; one grandson, Billy Ward; and many aunts and uncles.
Bill worked at General Motors for 31 ½ years until his retirement. He served in the United States Army Reserves for 2 years. He loved being outdoors and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and caring for his lawn. Bill also enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday August 10, 2021, at Mann’s Chapel Cemetery in rural Rossville.
